DAZ|Studio F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 28 9:00 am)
With the exceptions of Dynamic hair/cloth, magnets and deformers using magnets, and P5/6 specific shader nodes, anything you buy for Poser you can use in Studio. There are few merchants right now who develop specifically for DAZ|Studio, with the majority selling their wares at DAZ. But, I wouldn't shy away from Poser products. However, there are some merchants who, responsiby, state on their product page that their product was not tested in DAZ|Studio, as a "caveat emptor" for the customer. MS

I'd suggest creating a "Poser Content" directory for Poser content storage and unzip/install your Poser content files there. You'll also need to save a dummy poser.exe file there, so DAZ|Studio can find it. Just open NotePad, save a poser.txt file, then rename it poser.exe . To get the new content to show up in your Content pane, go to Edit>Preferences and click on the Directories tab. Click on the pull down menu that says "DAZ Content directories" and choose "Poser Content directories". You can then either browse to your Poser Content directory using the "Add" button, or allow D|S to search for it using the "Search" button.
Actually Studio doesn't need the dummy poser.exe Just a folder named runtime somewhere. It is the DAZ product installers that need the dummy poser.exe ;-)

Questor answered this question in a very detailed way in the DAZ Studio forum on the DAZ site. Here's the link to the post. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
