Mazak, the newsletter and survey is to see what people want in regards to "encryption" of content. The purpose of the newsletter was to explain what had happened with the 5.08 release that broke several Vue features unintentionally. And if you read the questions of the survey, you will see that we are asking customers what types of content they want and whether they want it copy protected, among a lot of other things.

As far as the link you put up, if someone downloads the freebie and can't get it to install, all they have to do is go to their purchase page in their account, click on "details" for the candelabra and redownload and try to reinstall. If they have problems, best thing to do is to post over at the Cornucopia3D forums and we'll try to help them. The admin and moderator staff tested this all week and we had no problems with it installing.

e-on rollback version 5.08 to 5.07, but this did not remove encryption in Vue5. In newsletter e-on wrote:

(encryption was part of the very first release of Vue 5 Esprit almost one year ago)

Or did I not read correct, encryption is and will be a part of Vue5?!

I downloaded and installed the candelabra without problems, but I did ask not to have an installer. Then it will work in both V5 and V5I. Christie, installers are loathed by many (if not most) people because it takes control away from the user. Daz get criticised for this quite often. Could I suggest you make the straightforward .zip the default, not the installer? Steve

What E-on explains, is that some of the objects have always been locked, but we never noticed it before. And this has been discussed here a lot too. All original 100% Vue content ( plants, materials, boolean objects, atmospheres...)is exportable, some objects made by third party are locked, because the creator of said objects decided so. Now lets' wait and see if the new trees we'll buy with our vouchers will be exportable with the next update before we go on again on the subject.

Personally I will just step way back from this site to see if it in fact will be worth bothering with. For now I don't see anything there that I can do here. Complaining about it surely is not going to solve a thing. Thx

ChristieK ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 4:23 PM

Hi Steve, I'll suggest this to the e-on folks. Thanks for the input. bruno, you're absolutely correct in your summary. Additionally, as explained many times in other posts here and elsewhere, as well as in the newsletter, 5.08 broke export of just about everything, and that was totally unintentional. Thanks to everyone for taking the survey; we really hope it'll help us to focus our efforts towards what Cornucopia3D users want! Cheers! ChristieK Cornucopia3D Site Admin/Moderator

Oh, and btw, Christie, A big thanks to you and all the mods for putting up with our frustrations and bursts of outrage lately!

purplecloud ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 4:52 PM

Vance Max, history shows that what you call complaining but what I call another person's feelings does make a difference. It probably is more of the delivery and the degree in which the feeling is expressed that makes the difference in the success of the feeling inspiring others to act or how the feeling will be labeled. So please everyone speak out and let others know how you feel. JMHO

It has been my experience that if you do not complain to the right person then not much is accomplished. The complaining should go directly to Christie K at the C3D site in my opinion, bring it here only seem to start a long never ending gripe thread. But I am not the moderator here PLEASE feel free to clog this board with your complaints even though it would be much more effective to do it at the C3D site the only benefit I can see in doing it here is you can remain anonymous. Thx.

Vance_Max don't understand your thinking on this matter. This is a Vue forum so why not use it to air out our complaints. I am sure all the staff from C3d read the threads and know exactly what goes on in this forum. This place was here a long time before the new store and for me it feels more like home. Most people here are not biased and can speak their mind without getting into trouble. I think agiel has done a good job as moderator and as long as its a legit complaint there have never been any problems. Hard to break old habits and set up houwe keeping other places when one gets use to a good forum. :) I have a forum and only about 10% ot the total membership actualy uses the forum. Why they got to know one another and feel at home. I have seen this on lots of forums.

@ Vance.....1st...I do not remain anonymous...I use my my same nick in ALL forums I visit, just for the very reason you described. 2nd....I have a right to complain since it was hard earned money that I spent. 3rd....I have complained or "whined" as some say(PFFTTTTT) at the appropiate places...in my case E-ON. It's all a waste of breath & typing.....Well maybe not, but I will survive all the digs etc etc...because I don't care! As the old saying goes "sticks & stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me" When one takes my money...well it should be obvious. As I've recently found out, a subscription website has stolen my money & gone belly up. Yeah, I'm in a good mood...not >:( dlk30341 - tired of being used & screwed over.

Like I said the only benefit I can see in doing it here is you can remain anonymous. This thread was not started by C3D the fact she comes here to read it doesn't really add to the effectiveness of the gripes. Ive always found going to the source of the problem is the best way to get results. Checking the C3D forums I don't see near the same amounts of complaining. Maybe you don't see my point and thats fine we all have an opinion. Thx. PS: DLk you always take things personally it seems to me. And if more of the concerns where made with your example at the C3D site or even better the e-on site perhaps quicker and better results will occur

Who remains anonymous as long as the web site has access to your ip when logging in. Only way to remain hidden is to use a proxy server to hide behind and that is only for hackers and script kiddies that like to play. Mature adults don't need to hide.

I agree completely iloco and at C3D you have to use your real information to log in with and in doing so you are also held accountable for what is done and said. In other words they know who you are because you more than likely had the software shipped to your house or business. IP address can be masked and played with to keep the user anonymous as I am sure you know. Is that why there are not as many complaint threads at C3D? I guess my point is if you can remain anonymous there is no real accountability for what is said. So these threads end up out of control in many cases. This is about all the attention I will give this endless thread as well..LOL Thx

Vance, I understand your point but we mere mortals do not know everything so one complaint can have any result. People who were previously unknown to each other may ban together and form a powerful force from a complaint or the it may go nowhere. But who is to say how the future will work? So express yourself in anyway you see fit until Agiel says otherwise. :)

Tomsde ( ) posted Sun, 28 August 2005 at 4:48 PM

I don't like the way I had to download and install grouped items, for instance the atmosphere pack where I had to have an install for all 10 atmospheres instread of downloading one file for the whole set and having to deal with one installer. Is this going to be changed?
