Subject: Hmmm...anyone ever enter this contest?

Hiya!

The other day i entered my spider/web-macro to this contest and this morning i got an email saying the following:

Dear Andreas Stridsberg,

We have chosen to publish your photograph in the 2005 edition of Photography vibes. Your photograph was selected out of 8523 entries. Your work below was appreciated for the assymetric composition and light mix used throughout.

Then they added a link to where i can order that book, some certicates...bla bla...And what not. I have to buy that book if i want to compete for the grand prize of 5000$. Now my question is, has anyone of you ever entered that contest?

I doubt i will pay for anything though. Dont see the point in competing if i end up paying to get the prize dont you agree? At least im getting an invitation to the "global photography conference"...wherever that might be, lol. Ah well, im still very flattered that they picked me...YAY!!! First time i ever "won" something or qualifed for anything. HOOORAY FOR ME, LOL!!! content.gif

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

picture.com is a "flattery" scam to relieve you of your $ & yes... you might get a book out of it several of us have gotten such offers but haven't found Photography Vibes yet in google as being a scam but it sounds like it works on the same principle anyway... it's well deserved Andreas! & you really don't need them to know you're that good! :]

Ooooooooh!!!! Aaawww....its been way toooooo long Cindy. Missed that paddle of yours. LOL!!! smug.gif But its true in a way. Ive submitted so many shots to different contest and magazines and never "won" or "qualified" for anything, so i reckon ill stay within the safe parameters of RR. wink.gif

Aw congratulations Andreas.You were selected out of 8500 entries!That should count for something!And for the record I haven't won anything either.Winning isn't everything,I know,but it feels good because of the recognition and perceived respect you feel you receive.You should know then,that you already are respected here as a talented artist and the quality of your work obviously is recognized... or you wouldn't be NUMBER ONE AND NUMBER FOUR IN THE HOT 20!!!!!!!!!! BIG CONGRATS on that Andreas!!!!-HUGZZZ Swedie!-M :)

Ooooh!!! BOUNCING TEXT AGAIN!!!! Aaaaaaaaw, thank you guys. Youre way too sweet to me. LOL, somehow this thread has turned into some kind of "please re-assure and comfort the pathetic swedish guy"....how embarrassing is that, LOL!!! I checked that email i got one more time and it sounds like they will publish the photo whether i buy the book or not. But buying that book, will allow me to participate in ANOTHER contest where the winner gets 5000 dollars. Money that comes from selling the book. So it really doesnt sound like a scam, more like a lottery, LOL. Anyway, i never intended to buy anything. Just getting a judgement on my pic was cool enough. Maybe if Pascale sent me back those good vibes she ows me, id eventually get something published, LOL. Bla bla bla...anyway...even though it kinda sounds like im pitying myself, i still appriciate all the kind things youve said. Bless you!!! Hmmm....if i dont put "God" infront of that sentence...id be polite to someones that sneezing, is that right? Sigh...english grammar...no sense. Fedrar svenska vilken dag som helst...eller g jag...mycket bla bla... #:O)

one site took me for $25 lol. I just looked to see if I could find the links to the site but I lost it. I forgot the name too I know it a on line art gallery and you enter 5 images for $25 . I did that but did not get in. It not sour grapes but I think it a rip off.

I didn't see any probs with that site Andreas!! There's 2 options there, one for free gallery and one for premium gallery where u have to pay! It's the same here! Where's the prob with that one? O_o R u referring to the contests there? Couldn't check that one cos I would have had to register!
