About the marketplace research : if you go to the main marketplace and click on "poser" you'll have a "3rd party" hair section with lots of styles (link provided) You can also chose "poser" and then look at the "hair" section of each character. If you explore all this, you may notice some styles you never saw before ;)What I would dearly love to see is a simple, ordinary businessman's cut for the guys. We've got long fantasy hair, we've got boy band hair, we've got buzz cut/flat tops, we've got afro's, we've even got combovers, but dagnabit, there's not one business man's hair style out there. So far the closest I've seen to what I'm talking about is Agent hair. Argh!! Kate
I'd love to see hair that is more suited to the older woman/man. Most every style out there is so trendy, and has way too much hair in it. I posted a thread a month ago or so asking for "granny" hair. I even posted in the "Wish Forum"... but no one with hair modeling skills spoke up.

I agree, more ordinary day to day hair styles would be great. Especially multi-figure hair would great, like the 3D Dream Hair + Steps setups.

Like MaleHair 5 (poser 4). I dont know if you could just make new textures or if they need new models, but i'd like to see several of the styles in the poser4 hair library updated/fixed/fit posed and textured.
I'd also like to see a (military) crew cut and, no, a flat top is not a crew cut.

I think there is too much long flowing hair. I want realworld style everyday type haircuts for women... office worker, soccur mom, etc... the available hair is so "glamour". I have given up hope on male hair. Also, I wish there was a "stand alone" filter in the MP. I can never find what I want with all the product add-ons, texture expansions and hair style poses.

There are some fantastic dynamic hair sets at this site. I downloaded a few a couple of weeks ago, and I am very happy with them so far.I don't want to be mean but I have never seen a dynamic hair at all as good as a Mr. Maya or a Koziburo transmap hair, ever. In My Humble Opinion. Dynamic hair always looks strange to me, as though it was rendered in a different rendering engine then the figure, as though it was composited in post work. Something interesting and retrograde would be a package of simple hair mesh to use as a base for post work... I make these sometimes with old P4 hair and primatives. But for good hair I really think transmapped mesh is best, I even prefer .hr2 to .cr2 when possible. But I guess I am always looking backward.
Hardly ever use dynamic hair, it renders too slow for me in a multiple figure scene.

Agree with lots of the above. My pet peeves about hair: Not enough realistic styles, such as modern businessman style. Too many bangs and stuff getting in the way of the face. Poser figures have great faces-- why cover them up?!? Too many complicated models who supposedly can do 30 styles of hair, but none of them well. I do like it, however, when a model can be slightly revised-- movable ponytails, short/long, shiftable to the right and left. Too many dark hair models, not enough blonde models. This is not because I prefer blondes; but blonde hair can be easily tinted to make many colors of redhead and brunette hairstyles; but you can't lighten a brunette texture into a redhead or blonde. The early Koz models work best-- a simple cap with great texture and transmapping. Those models have been used EVERYWHERE! And please-- more male hair!
koz did texture p4 male hair 1 and 5. http://digitalbabes2.com/, downloads, page 2 digicalermo's casual hair and agent hair look pretty on the money to me. actually, i think i see more guys in my office with a variation of studio maya's cecile hair (no sideburns, not so thick), but that's me. personally, i think i see more plain close cut hair (down to skin, up to crew cut - not "flat top), which i've almost never seen in the marketplace (especially with a thinning on top). if you want a particular style i suggest you show a picture of exactly what you want (not "kind of like this", but "this precise hair style") and get people to say if they would want some. i must admit, having lurked on one of the granny hair threads, i still have no clue what specific hair style you were referring to, acadia, even though you posted a picture. you seemed to be saying, not that precise picture but a general concept of "granny" hair that i didn't have and wasn't getting. it's all good, i just figure that while i'm not always the quickest person, if i was confused and uncertain, i probably wasn't the only one.
Robo2010: Agent hair (MP) combined with Agent Hair Steps comes pretty close to that image you posted.

Quote - If i get your point, you're making a plea for less hair, Acadia ? lol
LOL, I guess I am, hehe More hair of the lesser kind, hehe

ROBO2010, 3Dreams' Diva Hair is close--except the bangs.Attached Link: http://poserpros.daz3d.com/store/viewitem.php?selitem=32
This is close - but without the fringe.Attached Link: http://www.runtimedna.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=728
To Robo: You might want to take a look at the "Moni" hair at runtime dna. Though you can't tell from the preview pics it has morphs that come pretty close to that hair style. I really wish there was a good long, wavy/curly hair prop out there. I get the Bombshell V3 hair to work sometimes, and other times it looks like a writhing mass of busted slinkys. The Screen legend hair works for that somewhat too, but it's very tough to work with and doesn't quite get it either.Attached Link: http://www.adorana.de/downloads/categories.php?cat_id=1
Latexluv Have a look here - it's dynamic and perhaps could be modified to suit your first imageThe supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of

That is where dynamic hair comes into it's own - try this with conforming or a prop.. and see how it looks.

"Nope, that doesn't look at all natural." Just illustrating a feature, not going for metaphysical equivalence :-) The old curls only have a couple of poseable parts. I imagine that something with with a fair number of parts and Koz quality mapping would look much better. I agree that truly matching the directional effect of dynamic hair would be difficult (not to mention unwieldy) but I also have yet to see any dyn. hair that looks as good as the best transmapped items, not to mention the calculation time and portability to different rendering applications. It's a compromise either way.

I'd be happy to do a render off any day with Dynamic vs Prop in a natural fall image to see which looks more realistic. 'Specially if one took into account the time involved to set it up.
I thought Vue imported Dynamic Hair. I don't know myself as I only have Vue 4.
So does MojoWorld 3.
I don't want to start a big debate on Dynamic vs Static, it's just that I feel too many give up on actually learning the dynamic stuff because of the time involved - whether it's a rush to put out more images or what I'm not sure.
The realistic results are there if you are prepared to take the time.
However I will say that IMHO the dynamic hair supplied with Poser 6 is not in the same class as the Poser 5 hair and this may be one reason folk shy away after an attempt.

interesting, beryld. i think tastiger's curly hair looks better/more realisitic than any other curly transmapped hair i've seen, as do the ones at adorana. and i've never seen transmapped hair do this. i've seen a few product promos that beat transmaps for realism in my opinion (lady littlefox's bethany hair and neftis' luxurious fur). but then i've only tried to use dynamic hair once, and wasn't very successful. i think it boils down to what flaws you're used to and what you have time for.

Even the best DH has (to me), the look of nylon doll's hair. It's like perhaps the strands are too coarse, I don't know. That includes hair plugins for high end apps. that cost more than Poser. For animation and some other situations it's practically a must. It looks fine in medium and long shots as well. I just don't see it looking as good for closeup portraits.

really? did you look at that link to olivier's post at rdna? i've never seen hair look that realistic in any other portrait that didn't use postwork. granted, it's short, but that's where most transmapped hair falls down for me. for me, looking at other people's work (cause i definitely haven't mastered dynamic hair), it seems to depend on the type. the best transmapped curly or very wavy hair still looks pretty unrealistic to me. for instance, the best afro i've seen is alicia hair and that's just not even vaguely realistic to my eyes. divine hair at 3d commune looks like it could be made photo real, except for the edges and details of the curls. messy or smooth, straight hair longer than 3 finger widths or so tends to look better transmapped (imho). but then, i also like the sheen on dynamic hair. the only way transmapped hair seems to acheive the same sheen is painted highlights which rarely match the lighting. latexluv's pic kind of illustrates the problem i usually have. making transmapped hair fit the pose/movement and gravity and not go though any body parts usually takes a bunch of time, and i'm almost never satisfied. i suppose if i liked making standard, "i'm just having my picture taken" face shots, it'd be easier, but as it is... i'd love to master dynamic hair. but i'm not holding my breath. interestingly, most transmapped strands and wisps don't look real to me either (and usually help make the hair model easily identifiable, despite any applied morphs). i remember one person saying they incorporated dynamic strands with transmapped hair, and i really liked the effect.
Exactly! How many hair models return a MySQL error? None. C'mon guys, let's get started on more MySQL, PHP, or even VBS error-enhanced hair. Poser shouldn't have to crash on its own ;p Here's my latest WIP, I call it the Perdida Hair. Works in Poser 2/3/4/5/6 and DAZ|Studio.

Dynamic hair can look pretty good. I've done some experiments, the link above is one of the results. Not perfect, but I think it is at least equal to most transmapped hair. The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Please join me, voices raised to the heavens, for more new hair figures and props. No matter how many there are, there are never quite enough. Long hair, curls, waves all of it BUT My God, there are quite enough up-do's! Also, for the love of Bob, please make a search by title only for the store. Every time I type "Hair" in the market search, I get 10,000 pages of everything but hair. -WTB
