Hey,

There's a demo animation that has come with both V4 and V5
that has a camera spinning around an evolving tree.

The thing is there aren't any keyframes for anything.
The camera is linked to something called a dolly but
it has no keyframes either.

Anyone know what is going on here? I've had alot of
problems making a smooth anim like this one and if
there's some technique other than messing with the
awful keyframe controls I'd sure like to learn it!

Thanks,

Carl

Check the movement filters for these objects. The animator is very adept at using filters to get good camera moves.

Hi DMM, Where would I find some info on that type of animation? Didn't even know something like that was possible. Thanks, Carl

To tell the truth, it's mostly a matter of play around with it until you understand it. Filters are problematic generally because although Vue is just about driven by filters, they're not very well explained. Start with a simple movement, say a level move straight ahead, then apply some filters to orientation & position timelines etc & see what happens. Even though there's hundreds of filters to choose from, you should really make your own if you want to get the movement you're looking for. This means starting with a simple linear filter and adding curve nodes and playing about with them.

DMM, Is there are tutorial on that somewhere? I just can't see how you'd even begin to control what's happening without any keyframes or some kind of reference points. I don't understand how to even start. Thanks, Carl

ckeyes, what's the name of the animation? Are you talking about "4 seasons"? Eran
