I'm using p6 SR1 and for the last few images including the one I'm doing now p6 decides when I save it and go back to a file it is converting it into wireframe. When I click to go back to texture shaded it shows up black. I've just saved a file 3 diff times as I was very near the end of setting up a scene. Just had to do the lights. And it has not only corrupted the new 3 save files but all the other save files I had and I'm feeling pretty peeved off right now. Does anyone know 1) why this is happpening or is it another p6 quirk.....and 2) how to rectify it?

Have you updated with the SR1? Are you on PC or MAC? -jay

Just wondering.. Did you exit P6 (and possibly re-boot) then re-load P6 before trying the previous versions? There's no way that P6 (or any other version) should be able to corrupt previously saved files. It's much more likely to be a corruption of the existing version of P6 in memory. Whenever I get an oddity happen in Poser (any version), I immediately quit the program. Sometimes I'll save to a temp file before exiting, depends on how much I've done in the meantime. If the corruptions continue after an exit/re-boot/reload, then it's probably a "re-install P6" scenario... Cheers, Diolma

Hmm. Hadn't seen that discussion before. Seems like I've got to spend a lot of time sorting out all my MAT files.. Thx, Dizzi Cheers, Diolma

Oh crap originalkitten, I'm really sorry about asking if you updated the SR1. That's what I get for working and trying to read one of these at the same time. If you're still having problems, post them, somebody will get you the help you need. -jay

Online Now!

The exact same thing happened to me after an aborted render. It stopped mid render so I quit the application and went back in. When I opened the file up it was in wireframe and when I went to texture shaded it was black and then I noticed all the lights were gone. I binned it and started again with a VERY black mood!!!!! thefixer, poser coord.

I had the same thing. I have tried the RDNA solution and it seems to work. My own solution was to remove unused morphs from figures in the scene. That worked, too, but it did also induce catalepsy, and the trouble was that the corruption didn't seemed to be linked purely to the size of a file. The second time I saw this, the file was much smaller than the reduced file that had worked OK the first time. I've only ever had the problem with scenes containing multiple figures, i.e. more than one person figure, plus clothing item figures etc.. I got to the stage of saving a file with a new name after every significant change, which amounted to serious space on the drive. I suspect a dastardly plot by the manufacturers of hard drives.

I've noticed since that even though it's showing wireframe and then black...its saying there is no figures in the scene.. Where is should say figure 1 etc...it says None.....and theres nothing showing in the mat room at all..... I was just about to do the lighting on it too.....so only had poser defaults........the strange thing is as well is that...I've noticed that when it does go loopy on me...it takes their shoes off after I've conformed them.....cracking me up big time....

I don't know if this thread will help, but at least you'll know you're not alone.

I think I probably got that, too. I think I probably had to give up on the first corrupted file, because it was too much of a nightmare. I went back to the version I had saved before adding the last figure and tried again and didn't shut it down until I had rendered everything. There were things that needed to be corrected, though, and, of course, when I tried to open the file up again, the same thing had happened, so that was when I went back to the last good version again and started stripping out morphs. Whether the figures lost their footwear I don't know, because Poser made such a mess of the scene that it would have been hard to tell.

Those corrupt files are just not completely written to disk, so the effects may vary. (But as lights are usually written at the end of the pz3 files they're usually gone.)
