Subject: Need some wisdom and advice on a Camera

Hi Guys and Girls, Sorry havent been around much of late but i had to have jaw operation. Broke the top in four places and bottom in two and pin and plated it. Oh well done now but cant stay up for too long as yet. Well anyway lately people have been hiring me to do photos for them. I have my Canon Eos 300D. And two lens that go with this. Looking at upgrading my canon to Canon 5D, Canon 20D, Canon 10D, or Canon mark 1(?). I will use my canon lens on this upgrade and keep my rebel as a back up. For unforseen circumstances. But need your wisdom on this topic. Pros and cons what you have and what you think will be good. Takecare and when i feel stronger will be back uploading. Frogs starting to stir around farm again. Ribbet. Hope everyone is well Chris:)

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

The 1 series is clearly the best with regards to build, weatherproof body, dust seals etc. 1D MK2 +(n)version fastest performance on the market at present. 1Ds MK2 FF (Full Frame, 35mm film equivalent) sensor slower performance big price tag. Huge resolution 16. 7MP that will put out 50MB 8bit TIFF files For me the camera of choice would be the 5D, because I dont need extreme performance can live without the all weather body and it has a FF sensor. If you have any EFs lenses they wont fit any of the FF sensor cameras or the 10D (not sure about the 1D MK2) you will only get the 10D second hand, I have one it is a great camera and now a very good price, but the 20D is superior to it with regard to performance and low noise images at higher ISO's The 20D will take the EFs lenses

Hey guy, hope you'll be better fast ! What is the key of your choice ? Money, performance ? IMHO, if money is not a problem to you (send me a cheque LOL) and buy the best (Canon Mark). If it's not, I think the 5D is a good choice between fist DSLR and pros. I have a Rebel and if I could have your choice... don't dream Olivier... Good luck. Olivier

If what Simon said is right (and I'm sure it is), if u want to use ur lenses on ur new cam then, I guess the choice is made!! I have the Canon 20D and it's a fantastic cam!! Superb image quality, fast and easy to use!! A super cam yep!

sounds like good advice... but gee chris.. that some extensive jaw repair! & what a way to diet.. o.O! my best to you in a speedy & full recovery!! missing those ribets! :]

Chris mailed me about my posting, so I maybe didnt make myself clear enough. Just for clarification at this time the only Canon bodies that can take the EFs lenses are as follows: Rebel (300D) Rebel XT (350D) 20D EFs lenses have a slightly different mount and wont fit on a FF sensor or film body I think the same applies to the 1.3x (APS-H) D1 sensor too (not 100% certain ask Jim) All the Canon EF mount lenses will fit all the bodies regardless of sensor size. You can tell what your lens type is by the lettering in the lens body. For example EF lens will state Canon EF followed by the focal length. EFs lens will state Canon EFs followed by the focal length. Please check compatibility before parting with your hard earned money. Sorry for any confusion Simon

Just wanted to say special thankyou for those who shared their wisdom on this subject. Was really appreciated. But to LostPatrol(Simon) a big hug of gratitude. Have worked out due to his knowledge that i have two lenses. One being EF-s and the other Ef. So when i buy my new Canon 5d i can use my main lens for photography. Thats until i save for another lens. Thanks everyone:) Chris
