Seriously, this is GREAT news! =o] I'm so happy for you and am sure you come through with flying colors. Don't panic and just see what they have and learn it step by step. I was a stringer for a small paper for 2 years and it was a real fun job. Mostly sports photography, but I got to develop my own stuff in the darkroom when no-one was around! :) Good luck Kimarie, I know you'll do great!!! =`] ((try and find out what cameras they use beforehand and research them so you are familiar...go play with one at a camera store even))

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when
isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is
supposed to be fire and brimstone?

Last time I saw a reporter/photographer at an event, he was using a Canon 20D. Granted, it had a lot nicer lens and flash unit than I have, but still, just a 35mm digital when you get right down to it. You will do JUST fine. I'm a bit jealous, as well as now you have me thinking.... Hmmm, Easy enought o srop off a package at my local paper. :) Good luck!!! Rich

Congrat Kim. It's a real GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD news. Can you call someone in that paper to know what kind of camera they use and tell us. We'll find a ton of documents on the web for you (don't we guys, hey it's for Kimmie !!) and send to you. You'll just have to read during 5 days, 24 hrs... All my wishes are with u and I'd like to be an angel to be with you tuesday and convince that editor (as I said be yourself and everything gonna be OK) You're the queen tonight so dance as long as you want. HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGS Olivier
Life is just a picture of our dreams
Hey Kim...Wow! Opportunity is a knockin'!!!! First off...the VERY Best of Luck to YOU! Definitely get a list of questions together to ask the interviewer! I would assume most newspapers use DSLR/SLR's for their print work, so you're going to have to educate yourself on their use. No amount of reading can compare with actually having one in your hand! These cameras are a totally different beast than point & shoot/prosumer ones! Each brand of camera handles differently and you'll need to be prepared. Again, ask LOTS of questions! You did say he liked your gallery, maybe this photographer will "take you under wing" and teach you! You've got to "SELL" yourself and not just in the "photo" sense either. BE ethusiastic, stress that you're willing to learn! Go for it!!
Whoo-hoo!!!!! Way to go, Kimmers!!!!!!! Sounds like a fun job for sure!!! You'll do just fine! just be yourself and listen to Joe's good advice!!! Oliver also gave great advice to call someone and find out what kind of cam they use and then you can familiarize yourself with it!!!!! Keepin' my fingers and toes crossed for ya, girl!!!!!!!! Huge congrats!!!!!!!!!! :)
AW Congratulations Kimmie! That's wonderful news!I'm sure once they see your enthusiasm and get to know you they'll be thrilled with you.You already know they like your work! Good luck sweetie!

kimariehere, at a high school football game some years ago a woman I did not recognize said she had something to show me the next game. She did. She pulled out newspaper clippings from some 20 years prior! These were ads using a beautiful young model. The photog was me...I had forgotten all about it. We used film and I thought for some reason to use the lens on the cam at a "telephoto" range, losing dof behind her. I was totally surprised how good the shots actually were! I suspect that you QUALITY AND POV OF IMAGES is what caught the eye of the paper. I would think they will take time to get you familiar with the equipment they have since they want "what they saw" in your images. They cannot train that into anyone! That is YOU and that is what they saw. If they have good sense(some business folks simply do not see the future picture, unfortunately)they will take the time to get you going with their stuff. The hard part will be keeping your perspective as it was in what impressed them in the first place. It is so, so, so easy to feel you have to change somehow when given responsibility. I suspect they want just what they saw, not a "changed" you. That might be more difficult than learning new cams. Best wishes and blessings in this! wonderful! Tom.
they read how you got some of those shots like getting under that bone cat I think it was and you climbing into that water tower that really got they mind thinking plus your QUALITY of photos at all times. they will give you the camera but will show you too. thank Jesus ok
what you see is not what you know; it in your face
