Really depends on how much you plan to buy. It's a good deal for newbies, who may be buying a lot of DAZ originals.
If you don't buy a lot, you may be better off waiting for sales. A couple of times a year, they usually throw the Platinum Club open to everyone for a month or so, as a promotional thing. You can buy all the $1.99 items you want then.
But if you're a regular shopper, the PC will pay for itself, between the discounts on DAZ originals and the $5 monthly voucher.
I've been using the PC for a couple of years now and I'm quite satisfied with it. I don't buy stuff every month only 3-4 times a year but when I do I really load up. I've found that the PC is especially worthwhile when DAZ runs one of their specials. A while back I got the hi-res skeletons and a bunch of other stuff for about a quarter of what I'd of payed otherwise. You may want to sign up for a few months and see if it works for you too.
I had it when I first started and got some useful stuff from it but then it went a bit stale with stuff I didn't want or need so I'm not in it any more. I don't regret coming out of it but I have no reason to diss it either! Personal choice at the end of the day!
Injustice will be avenged.

Berserga is right, I found that I bought everything I wanted that was PC priced in the first three months, then there was only junk (junk to me)left. Join, get what you need then drop out and wait a year. They need to keep adding new stuff faster other wise they will be selling only the core models and people will be buying upgrades from other sites. Dale
I completely agree with mrsparky. I was a pc member for about a year and stopped being one for severla reasons. 1. They didn't bring any item to my liking for over 4 months. 2. When I complained about 1. they told me to give them some requests, I did so and DAZ just laughed at my requests. 3. I hardly ever buy DAZ originals 4. Always had a hard time spending the $5 voucher 5. THIS IS THE BIGGEST REASON, I got really anoyed when they opened up the pc membersship TWICE during this perion of time to non members too. They could buy for about a week or so all the pc membership items they wanted for S1.99 as a kind of test drive. That anoyed me so much that I stopped being a pc member. Why would I pay for something others can get for free? So, I bought myself a lifetime membership at Poserworld. Good value, great support, great items, request honored and the guys at PW never laughed at them, but actually created them! I'm pretty sure that the pc club will open up soon for non-members again and then I'll buy whatever I do want, I'm never going to be a member anymore and give money to something that has no value at all.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, aeilkema. You have given me lots to think about here - made a good point of it with the point # 5. I checked out Poserworld and was sad to see they apparently do not hav much for james or Apollo. I will watch and see what they come up with in the future. Thanks for the lead. I can see how a lifetime membership there would be a good thing as they develop more p6 stuff. Seattletim
PoserWorld has more stuff for Apollo, etc., than DAZ will ever have. DAZ has their own line of figures, and theyonly support their own figures.
Nothing wrong with that, but if you want stuff for the P6 people or Apollo, the DAZ Platinum Club is the wrong place to look. They will never support James or Apollo.
We made a list of what we wanted, and this in three classes: first what we really could use, then what was probably useful, and finally what was looking ok. Then we compared the prices and became a member for one month. During this month we bought what we wanted, only to find out that shortly after, the PC was open for everyone. From then on we did buy occasionally at Daz but there is no real need anymore. Renderosity has the better store. So my personal opinion is to make a list of what you want and either become a member for one month and buy it all, or wait for the open doors.
Yes and no. I was a member for 2 years and in that time I picked up a boatload of bargains. Now, not for me but that's because I have more than enough content. Now, I buy very selectively or make my own stuff. For the average Poser user, it's definitely worth it.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I just got the PC and it saved my butt. I needed over 20 items and DAZ had enoph of it in PlatinumClub. If not for the PC I could never have afforded all the sets and props I needed to build the many scenes I have planed.
I didn't join to see what I could use. I joined because I had a need to fill and they had the goods and because of that it seriously paid off. I also felt safe making the purchases because the quality of the stuff there. :D
My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things
I've been a member for a couple of years, and never regretted it. Sure..they aren't perfect..sometimes I go a few weeks, or even maybe a month before I find something I want. But hey, that's LIfe :) You can't have ice-cream or chocolate every meal :)I've not had any problems with them..or rather, I've not had any that weren't resolved to my complete satisfaction when I emailed them regarding a problem. Maybe I've just been lucky, but they get a 9.5 / 10 in my book.
I've been a PC member from the beginning and and I'm still very satisfied about it. I also like James/Koji and Apollo Maximus, but my favourite characters are still DAZ David and Maichael 2 and Victoria 3 and Stephanie Petite so I tend to buy more at DAZ than in other 3d stores. The Platinum Club has been and continue to be a constant resource for clothing (complete with the standard DAZ figure Morphs) and lots of high quality environment and furniture sets for just 1.99 the piece. Yes, there are weeks that they put in the store something I don't need but there are a lot of benefits in a Platinum Club membership and even if sometime they make a temporary promotion and let everyone buy in the Platinum Club section at 1.99 I don't feel as if it has no value. For example the additional 30% discount on DAZ originals is great. I would have not purchased Michael 3 when it wasn't free without the additional 30% discount and I got The Freak and Stephanie free just because I purchased M3 during his introductio period. Same thing for other great DAZ original products. So in the long run for me the membership has more than paid for itself. I have a lifetime membership to Poserworld too and it is another great deal. It is less DAZ oriented as has been pointed out, so eventually you would find more cloth for james and Apollo there. The only problem I see with Poserworld is that the conversions of the clothes and the morphs are made with program like Tailor and Wardrobe wizard so sometime they are not perfect. This doesn't mean they are bad, just that they are not as good as custom made morphs or clothes made specifically for one figure. After all Steve Shanks, owner of PoserWorld is a one man army and has not a squad like the platinum club that creates the clothes for him so it is inevitable. On the other hand most of his recent (female) clothes include some posing morphs made with cloth simulation that add realistic effects for those users that do not own Poser 5 or 6 yet. On the plus side you will find clothes at Poserworld that you'll never find anywhere else just because they are too niche for other stores, lots of real world contemporary stuff instead to fantasy and sci-fi. And that is GOOD. And Poserworld is not only clothing stuff, but environments, vehicles, useful props and textures too. So at the end I would say that they are different deals, both great and if you could afford both of them you would not regreat it.
In a word... absolutely. I pay monthly instead of annually. I think it's like $8.00 per month after the initial sign up. Each month they give you a $5.00 voucher to spend... so it's only costing me $3.00 per month in order to get incredible deals. I'm on a budget and I can't afford to be going and spending $10 "here and there" because it adds up. I find some great stuff at Daz and it's only $1.99. I can live with that :)

The only thing I still wonder is why if you don't use the 30% off DAZ originals and you don't really use the vouchers it will pay for itself. Even if use the vouchers and are on a monthly plan you still pay $36 a year. My advice is, if you're only in it for the S1.99 items as I was, wait until it opens and you can buy 16 items already for the $36 you've saved.... that are a lot of items already.

Base the majority of your decision on what is there, not on what could be there in the future. If you see things you want, and being a member will save money then it could be a good investment. However if you think that you might recoup some of your investment by what will be coming out in the next year you're probably not making a good investment.
First, Platinum Club is a good deal if you like the kinds of things they have available. If you'd buy a third of what they offer for full price, then the membership pays for itself. Add on the voucher and it's a nice deal. Second, there is NO BETTER DEAL than Poserworld. Consistantly great quality and variation, and it's for ALL figures. Steve takes requests, and follows through. Add to that the Wardrobe Wizard, and a ton of his older stuff can be converted to more modern figures. The texturing is beautiful on many items. His scenes are varied and easy to use. I have both, and use both.

Hello, I am new to Poser and joined the monthly plan. I bought a bunch of stuff to get me going at $1.99 and the 30% discount. That was cool, but now that I have a bunch of stuff to play with I am left wondering if it is worth the monthly fee. What thoughts do you have? Seattletim
