Subject: DAZ Tailor?

minimongo ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 11:01 AM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 7:09 AM

I have been having trouble fitting clothes to my newly purchased V3 character, and the creator suggested pruchasing the DAZ Tailor utility/program. Has anybody used it? It looks confusing and I was hoping to find someone who could answer questions if any come up. I haven't purchased it yet because I wasn't sure if it ALWAYS fits clothes to morphed bodies. Anyone out there who can advise me and/or answer my questions? minimongo

It's easy to use and works pretty well, but it doesn't ALWAYS work. Nothing ALWAYS works to fit clothing to morphed figures.

You might have better luck with Wardrobe Wizard. Try the demo, at least.

What the tailor does is transfers morphs from the figure to an article of clothing. The morphs don't always come out right, but usually they do.

I've had a lot more luck with Wardrobe wizard, if you just want to convert your clothing to fit a morphed figure then WW is all you need, if you want to create morphs in the clothing then WW and the add morph module of "Tool Collection for Poser" will create the body morph from the obj....Steve

I've used the Tailor with pretty good results most of the time. It's very easy to use. I'd say it's worked on about 90 percent of the items I've tried it with. Good buy in my opinion.

Ok I purchased Tailor but when it asks for the cr2 file, I don't know what to look for! HELP!! :-)

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 2:50 PM

The product readme should tell you where the CR2 is. Whether you bought it from here, DAZ, or another site, there should be list of files and where they are installed. (You will need to load two CR2s, the one for the figure, and one for the dress.)

I looked in the Zip and ReadMe, and don't see a cr2 listed... Should I be looking for the Vicky cr2 or the one for the character I bought for her?

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 3:07 PM

Okay, I assume you have purchased a character for Vicky. In that case, set up the new character in a scene by herself. Don't pose her or put any clothes or hair or anything on her. Just the morphs you want.

Save her to your Poser library. Remember where you saved her.

Now start the Tailor. When it asks for the CR2, choose the one you just saved.

How do I save it as a cr2 file? It only gives me the option to save it as a .pz3 or .pzz file

Save it to your Poser library (the panel on the right side of your screen).

Navigate to the Figures section. Make sure the figure you want to save is selected. You should see a + sign in the right bottom of your screen. Click on the + sign, and the figure will be added to your library.

Oh, and to find the CR2 after you have saved it...assuming you have installed Poser in the default location, look in:

C:program filescurious labsposer 6runtimelibrariescharacter

If you've installed Poser elsewhere, are using an external runtime, or are using Poser 5 instead of Poser 6, adjust the path accordingly. :)

minimongo ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 3:42 PM

grr ok I've got it all loaded but it's the choosing the morphs to use that I just have no clue on!

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 4:10 PM

In Poser, select the BODY of the figure, and look at the Parameter Dial menu. (If it's not up, bring it up under Window -> Parameter Dials.)

See what morphs are there. The ones that are not equal to zero are the ones you want to add. There may be only one, if it's a custom morph. There may be many, if the person who made the character used the DAZ standard morphs.

If there are a lot, use the "queue" function in the Tailor. Add the FBMs to the queue first, and when you've got them all, add them to the dress all at once. (It will take awhile.)

One really nice thing about it is you can morph out a char and then use tailor to make the original char clothing fit your new one. Marque

Did I just read P6??? If so The Tailor doesn't work so well.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

bevans84 ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 7:06 PM

Yeah, it works ok on P5, but it seems like the extra lines P6 puts in the CR2's create a problem.

dlfurman ( ) posted Tue, 27 September 2005 at 9:38 PM

Yes, (See #17 and 18) Poser 6 adds two items in the CR2 that were not present in previous versions and Tailor doesnt know about them. This is the one reason I have kept Poser 5 online so I can use the Tailor.
