What sizes and formats are the image maps you're both using? I mean, 1024 x 1024 and jpg, for example.
Did what you said. With Infinite build 278365. No problem with a small bitmap. Crash when i exchanged that with a large "Poser" jpg - but only when i interrupted the rendering. No crash before that. I will double check it and probably report it to e-ob. With crash log. Tried it again with no crash. Could it be that it only happens when you exchange the bitmap in the bump? Nope, no more crashes so far. Will keep it in mind! Regarding the Esprit question from Blaufeld. Try to update to the latest version and see wether this fixes the problem!

For Infinite, are you updated to 5.08, build 278365? And for Vue 5 Esprit, are you updated to build 278365? I believe both have improved handling of large texture maps.

Blaufeld, go out to the page at e-on and get the update there.Try turning off the preview window in the "open" box when importing an image map. Mine crashed trying to open image maps, but as soon as I turned off the "Open" box preview it hasn't happened.

Where is this "crash log" saved? Good for other users to also send to e-on support when they have crashes, as you are doing.

Maybe a sticky here with that info and requesting that users with problems always contact e-on support directly (+ link)?
What so you think? I get the impression that users often think that if they describe a problem in a forum, the eon-support folks will somehow be aware of that problem, when they actually have to report it through the official e-on Technical Support Center link

That's actually a good idea, jc. I have trouble with my XP Pro machines finding where the crash logs are. In W2K Pro, I found them rather easily.
Crash Logs. When i understood it correctly it is more or less a Mac thing. Not done by Windows XP. But i can be wrong. You have a special folder in the Library folder on Mac that saves all the crash logs that happen on your system. You can simply do a search on your disk for "crash log". It is extremely helpful for the techicians to get that, shows the system status precicely. E-on was able to identify some problems very quickly after getting mine. Really impressive. Last time i did that, they told me that i need to uncheck a specific setting in my preferences until the next update is available and the problem is fixed. Maybe someone knows how this can be done on Windows too, especially on Windows XP. Then i am sure we reach another level of quality with problem reports.

Oh! Operating System crash logs! I was thinking there was a special Vue crash log. jwhitham is correct. The Event Viewer is very useful. Every WinXP/Win2k user should check their event viewer once per month for system start up and other glitches, as part of normal maintenance. There is also the report that gets sent to Microsoft, if you approve the dialog box that pops up after an app crash. It has a "Details" button for viewing, so you could prolly copy and paste (Ctrl/C, Ctrl/V) it into Notepad or Word. - but might be hard for e-on to interpret. There is also the ancient "Dr. Watson" utility. Don't remember how that works, but i think it still does.

Since the new patch I have had a problem. If I set up a reflection map in the atmosphere, and then go into a material and right click on the bump map and edit -> add a texture node -> connect it to the bump section -> select a large bump image from poser (probably happens with any picture file to be honest) Vue crashes. Everytime, If I have a reflection map and add a bump map it crashes. No reflection map, everything is fine.
