THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Critters ... lots and LOTS of critters ...

I have an idea for an image that involves a large amount of people/monsters in the scene. I don't know if Bryce will choke or not, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any shortcuts I could take to reduce memory and/or render time?

I've already thought about rendering each creature seperately and saving it with an alpha channel, then using Bryce's 2D pict option.

I also considered rendering each creature seperately in Bryce with an object mask and trying to combine them all in an image editor.

I experimented with the 2D pic option, and it's a royal pain making sure the critter's feet are lined up with the ground when all you have to look at is a square in between renders.

As for my second choice, it sounds at least as time consuming as the 2D pic option, but I'd have to delete critters after I used them to save on memory, and I can forsee making errors in judgement concerning the placement of future ones. It could end up taking a lot longer, but so far this is my preferred choice.

So, if anyone has some alternatives, or suggestions for tweaking my current ideas, I'd appreciate it.

Have you seen this Flak's tut at DAZ? It is exactly about how to manage and render huge amounts of creatures in one scene :)

Thank you! As you said, it's EXACTLY what I was looking for!

That is something that Flak does well. Take a look at his gallery some awsome stuff there.

what you could also do is add another plane horizontal as a marker to the image plane and group them, so you only have to find once the height of the feet. make that second plane invisible though so you only see it in the editor.

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

you could do some image manipulation to make the feet touch the bottom of the 2d plane?, i.e crop the bottom of the image so that the feet are at the bottom, then make sure the image is square...
