Subject: Does anyone still use Vicky 1 or 2?

I have a few figures to unload, but they're all V1-based, and I won't bother if I'm the only one who's using her nowadays.... I tend to be a bit behind the curve. :) No one seems to have done a season 1 Wonder Woman. The above figure makes use of the skin textures and face morph from Vulcanis's V1 Wonder Woman, which is no longer available. The suit and hair, however, are all-new and I can share them. The suit bottom is clothroom cloth.

Batgirl is a re-working of the figure I posted lats year. The cape is a conforming figure. The hair is an easypose figure.

This one's kind of goofy. Mods, please delete this image if it is deemed inappropriate. It's a completely new mesh, however, and I thought it might be of interest to someone. The bottom of the suit is clothroom cloth, and uses the same mesh as Wonder Woman's suit bottom. Sadly, I am not adept at skin texturing, so only Batgirl's face texture can be shared. Anyway, if anyone is interested, I'll start packaging these to post. If not, sorry to be a pest. :)

I don't have Vicki 1 but I have V2 and I use her and I am interested in those outfits. They look great and as you know, we now have Wardrobe Wizard to make them fit any (or almost any) other model if we want to. ;o) Thanks a lot for sharing these!

I used to use V3 to V2 if I found a really cute outfit for V2. Now I just use Wardrobe Wizard to fit the clothing to V3. Those outfits are really cute, and I would be interested in them :)

Thanks, guys. I'll plan to prep these to post, then. About Wardrobe Wizard: will it be able to convert figures which have been customized? I should have mentioned initially that I have built these for a "souped-up" V1, with re-worked JP's and added body handles and whatnot. If I'm going to post them, should I bother to post the souped-up Vicky 1 for which the outfits were created, or simply assume that everyone will use WW to convert? Easier for me if you're all going to convert them.... :) If anyone wants to get me a Xmas gift, I'm too poor to buy WW myself.... :)

Francemi ( ) posted Fri, 07 October 2005 at 2:23 AM

I'm sorry but I don't know what souped-up means. If it means what I think it means, ie., that you modified the body of V1 to fit the outfits, then yes, we'd need these changes because to convert using WW, the model has to fit perfectly to the figure we're converting FROM.

Acadia ( ) posted Fri, 07 October 2005 at 2:32 AM

I'm not sure what you mean by "souped up" either. Are you talking about the outfits being made to fit V1 that has been morphed into a different body shape? If they are for V1/2 then WW should work. One way to find out for sure is to let someone you know that has WW try it and see. I put Phil's name in the subject bar. Maybe he will stop in when he wakes up and give a better answer.

Cage ( ) posted Fri, 07 October 2005 at 3:27 AM

Sorry. Didn't mean to be obscure. By "souped up", I mean heavily customized. I've fiddled with almost all the JP's, except perhaps the finger joints. I've added body handles and ERC and JCM's. That sort of thing. My system and my budget maxed out with V1, it seems, so I've been trying to find ways to improve her for my own use. The result a figure that is not readily compatible with Vicky 1 out-of-the-box, as it were. So I am mostly wondering about how WW deals with customized joint sets. My understanding was that there was some kind of database of WW compatible figures, which suggests that the program may not accomodate a custom figure. I suppose I could create some joint insertion poses if the customization is a problem, anyway.... Er, that's WW for Wardrobe Wizard, not Wonder Woman. :)

EnglishBob ( ) posted Fri, 07 October 2005 at 3:43 AM

As long as your character is based on the original Vicki mesh, by morphing or whatever, then Wardrobe Wizard can handle it. It's just mesh modification it can't deal with. Altered JPs and body handles will, I think, be obliterated during the conversion process - but they wouldn't be directly applicable to a different figure, anyway. I still use Vicki 1 a lot, as well as Stephanie 1 and Vicki 2 Reduced Resolution. V3 looks very Amazonian in a lot of situations. "Souped up" is usually in reference to cars which have had their engines tuned up, bodywork modifications, paint jobs etc. In Vicki's case, it means she ate lots of soup and gained a few pounds. :) Not being rude about your characters, cage; they're great...

Cage ( ) posted Fri, 07 October 2005 at 4:07 AM

Well, the base figures all make use of the original Vicky mesh, but all of the suits are altered or original meshes. I hope that will not be a problem.... For instance, Batgirl uses a customized (intensified and re-cut) mesh derived from the P4 catsuit, with boots and gloves built into the mesh. EWDG use the Vicky catsuit, but, again, the boots and gloves are built in, and I used Mason's old layered figure technique to merge them while preserving the morph capabilities of the catsuit base. The other garments I built myself. Will WW accomodate such things? Or will I have to seriously rework these to make them accessible to people? Things used to be so much simpler, back when we only had Posette to bother with, or maybe Eve. :) I thought souped up was automotive, somehow. And here I am, so much not a car person that I'm almost anti-car. Huh. :)

rubs sleep from eyes

OK what's all this noise about then? :)

The clothing needs to fit one of the supported figures for it to work with Wardrobe Wizard. It can convert to a morphed figure but it can not convert from a morphed figure. If your modifications only apply to the joint parameters there will not be a problem. Also remember that V1 and V2 are effectively the same figure so far as Wardrobe Wizard is concerned.

Hope that helps.

xantor, if they don't fit V2 or V1 out of the box, we won't be able to convert FROM so we won't be able to use WW. When using WW, we have to make sure the outfit fits closely the original model it was made for in order to do a "convert from".

wow, that wonder woman and batgirl are awesome. i love their hair. um, yes, i think we would like the souped up v1. that would be awesome. the only difference between v1 and v2 is morphs, and i do think that some people still use v2 due to v3's inj/rem system and polygon count. if you changed jps, then the clothes won't work on anyone's standard v2, so yeah, i'd suggest posting your reworked v1.

Cage ( ) posted Fri, 07 October 2005 at 4:09 PM

Thanks, everyone. I'll start organizing these to post, then. I think I will probably post them along with my customized Vicky 1, for which they were designed. I will create and post a couple of joint insertion poses to allow conversion of other garments to my wonked-out V1 adaptation, as well as conversion of my outfits back to normal V1-2 use. Thanks for all the information about the WW use. Since it's out of my budgetary reach, I've paid no attention and have been ignorant of developments. SSounds like an incredibly useful app! And, thank you for all the comments. Vulcanis deserves credit for the fact that Wonder Woman actually resembles Lynda Carter, but I can accept any praise for Batgirl or EWDG, assuming there is a resemblance. :) The last figure is supposed to look like Romy Schneider, so you can see how my face-shaping skills may not be fully deserving of any praise.... I'll let people know when these are posted. I'll probably link items here, at Animotions, or at Renderotica, depending on what is deemed appropriate for each item.

I use M2/V2 and V2RR extensivly. V3 and M3 just kill my computer. The design of the figures is nicer but I don't see the xtra polys except maybe the face for super close portrait. It seems with Millenium 3 it is the design, morph work, and textures and content available that realy make them, ugh those polys. I couldn't make out what the deal is with your special character... the thread is just too wide for me to read on my monitor!

Francemi in 18: I believe these will fit V1 or V2 out of the box, but the joint parameters will need to be adapted before they will conform properly. I created some JP insertion poses, as I said, which should help. Heh. The diaper outfit is a bit clownish, isn't it? :) Diapergirl is actually a character who will be appearing as Batgirl's foe in a story which will appear at the Batgirl Bat-Trap sometime this fall. I got to play contributing writer. :) Sadly, I'm no better at that than I am at most other things.... I can add Hawkgirl, Supergirl, and a Julie Newmar/Lee Meriwether Catwoman (with optional easypose cat tail) to the set, with a few slight alterations to the outfits seen above. I will be including those figures with the others when I post them. I find that I actually have a lot of organizing to do before these are ready to post, however. I have my geometries and textures strewn about all over the place, so I need to fix that before I can distribute the characters. I also need to organize the various MATMOR and utility poses and the expressions library that go with the base figure. So it may be next week before these are ready, but it will be soon. My hair texturing may leave something to be desired, but all of the hair is mapped to be compatible with Maya-style "flat" hair textures, so they should be easy to re-texture as desired, using existing free textures. Sorry about the width of the thread. I've found it a bit irksome, myself. What was I thinking, posting a wide image? :) Thanks for the hosting offer, bnetta. Kuroyume (fine fellow, indeed!) gives me webspace, and I've come nowhere near close to filling it, as yet, so I have a home for these. And, once again, thank for all the comments. I'm glad I'm not the only one still using Vicky 1.

It is cool you are doing "old school" super heroes and some
weird villains. I just got through reading a book about

I like when the villains can
be strange but not cloying or ironic... weird but not
totally comical. You know what I mean?

Would that be the book by Art Spiegleman? Jack Cole seems to have had a tragic life, or at least a tragic end. Great cartoonist. I like Plastic Man. I wish Poser gave use decent tools to stretch and deform a figure. A fully-functional Plastic Man figure would be kinda nifty. I've ended up re-working the ElectraWoman and DynaGirl setup a bit, trying to get rid of a couple of bugs. It turns out that the catsuit was not remapped, after all. Huh. So I have a couple of figurebuild issues to finish before posting. Adding "gravity" to some of the hair. Souped up. :) Should be soon, however.

Thanks, Anton. I used my old VCD copy of one of the episodes as reference for the ElectraComps. I think there are a couple of minor points that aren't quite correct, but they're close enough to have passed muster with a couple of EWDG hardcores I know. If I had a decent male figure, perhaps I'd make a GlitterRock character. :) Sadly, however, I can't really bear to look at the ol' Dork very often, so I've been limited to the females. I recall that you used to have a Batgirls of Gotham website at one time....
