Erm, I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but I control the internet. Yup, me. I also invented it. Scary, ain't it? Go on, prove me wrong. :D

yikes! i may have complaints about this current administration, but the u.s. at least gives lip service to privacy and freedom of expression.

He had teams recover alien technology, reverse engineer it and then patent the designs. BTW, he wasn't killed by the rogue Dalek, but his obsession to keep the travel machine and mutant intact lead to the deaths of over 200 personnel in his employ. In the recent past, I've read articles about just how vunerable the entire internet would be to attack. By terroists or others.

Blow up a few "backbone" centers, and the entire 'net could crash for an extended period of time. Given the amount of world commerce & communications that occur across the internet these days -- that's a potential catastrophe just waiting to happen.

What to do about such a threat? Surround each backbone hub center with its own small army for protection, I suppose. Uh-huh.........

Perhaps simply build a lot of back-up hubs -- just in case. The only problem with that plan is that it would cost lots of money to implement. But it might be preferable to the alternative.

There's some overall domain controlling-type (wrong terminology, but you get the idea) servers that resolve names and domains and stuff..but it's like asking who controls the weather..;)
