Do any of you use deep paint 3d to create your textures for poser? if yes, how do you output your texture maps and bump maps separately? thanx p.s. by a show of hands how many people own deep paint 3d? i wonder if there are enough users do justify a deep paint 3d forum?

I do, I'm just learning it though...just started playing with it today. I believe Catharina Przezak uses it as well. Marque

DP3D is awesome, with Texture Weapon, it is even greater. in #40 of 3D Artist, there is a how-to article for this matter.

I just got it, and thank you Steve for the Tutorial, but it doesn't seem to apply to what I want to do. Is it possible you may write a more "advanced" version in the future? -Tim PS> Still waiting for your PoserWorld 3 CD to arrive, I can't wait to check out the jet interior! Looks great!

ive been thinking about getting it with text weopons but it seems like you can acjieve the same results with photoshop and time i dont own it and only triec the 30 day demo so i cant really say the price is the biggest thing scaring me away at the moment alot of those type paint programs ar supposed to be coming out at half the price would you post some pics so i can see ?

If I ad the material to the painted model (c) I ad also the bump maps (b) and after painting I use save all Materials and deep paint saw your texture and bump maps separately in your folder.

P.S I can no work anymore without Deep paint and T.W a like very much the paint projection special by using model of Poser4 it is great, I am sure you saw my textures made using this software, but it cost much time to learn. on this image you can see what you get with Deep Paint painting projectio and what with standart texture. you see what is better for good texturing. Catharina

TRAVISB ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2001 at 7:57 PM

In your opinion Catherine do you thik the painting capabilities are that muc vetter than photo shop i tried the projection painting and it was very sloppy if you go to my gallery (TRAVISB) i did my tribal character all in photoshop pics-primitive silence ---princesses man ---tell me what you think please

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2001 at 8:07 PM

They all are looks very nice but if you want to use another textures like the above you will never get the effect with photoshop , yes you can do it but it will cost you to much time. If I working with realistic textures with basis of a photos the painting projection made the work faster with great effect. :-)

TRAVISB ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2001 at 8:13 PM

Thank you Catharina i think you may have convinced me ! This can be an addicting buisness ;)

poserpro ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2001 at 10:34 PM

If rotating the arm and projection paint again, there will be a overlapping seam, particularly like this one as the texture are in rectangular shape, I think DP3D with TW is suitable for fractal type, or skin type as these textures have no visible seam when painting in overlapping area after rorate to next angle. it is all about UVMap, TW is cool to create good UVMap, but I still like to use UVMapper by Steve before importing into DP3D.

poserpro ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2001 at 10:36 PM

BTW, I would add the S( Shine) map for use in Cinema4D, Bryce, LW or other which supports Specular map.

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Tue, 06 March 2001 at 5:25 AM

I think not so but you can do what you think is best for your own work..... I show the image about textures and bump map there are not theme about Speculat map... Thanks Catharina

Karaneli ( ) posted Tue, 06 March 2001 at 7:54 AM

wow, ive never gotten so many replies to a posting before! thanks, evrybody, but i have one more question, is it better to projection paint directly onto the model, and generate a new map, or should i just load the texture template and paint over it like i would in photoshop or any other painting program (but save the color map and the bump map seperatly)?

poserpro ( ) posted Tue, 06 March 2001 at 9:44 AM

your are talking about the UVmap, as long as you have created it in UVMapper, you can open the UVMap in DP3D, no need to load it, or you can rightclick to open the UVMap in the 2D Map( for Color ). And you can even import the textures to add more style or modify it for your own.

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 10 March 2001 at 10:47 AM

Well, Catharina, I consider you the goddess of the brush. Thank you for saying it took you a while to learn DP3 and Texture Weapons, I thought I was just a dunce! Your stuff is so incredible that I can only hope to walk in the shadow of your work, so back to it for me! 8^) Marque

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Sat, 10 March 2001 at 5:57 PM

Marque, Thank you very much, I don't think that my stuff is so great I am not always happy with what I create, everybody is the best in your own style.
