I suggested silhoutte a few months ago because it was something I wanted to practise. Today I got the chance and went down by the river to see what I could capture. I knew silhouttes would not be as easy as it sounds, but it is someting for all no matter what camera, beginner or advanced, there is a lot of photographic skill involved in getting compelling images that involve a silhoutte, and lots of room for creativity too. This is my first attempt. I will be trying to capture some others in the coming month and see how far I can improve with it.

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

Great silhouette shot! I've been trying but it is harder than it sounds to get an actual silhouette. If this is your first attempt, I can't wait to see what else you come up with. :)

It helps when the subject is wearing a black rubber suit :D This guy was a real gem, coming in close to the shore for me, but he got a bit tired in the end. It was blowing a gale so he must have been exhausted. I got his e mail and have sent him some thumbnails to see if he likes any of the shots, and will forward on full size files if he wants them.

That is way cool Richard. That splash looks awesome...and so does the silhouette of course. #:O)

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

I can't believe how good this is. Perfect in every way.
