Hello there First of all, very original concept. It's good to see something different from time to time. What did you use to make the song? As for my crits: I think you should keep an eye on your feet. They slide a lot and that makes me think she's gonna fall any minute. Also check your balance. I also think you could change your timing in some parts ;) Keep it up.

I wrote the song about 3 years ago using an old program called Harmony. I don't know if it is still around, but several years ago when I got the program I really liked it a lot. Ths BVH file I used on the motion was a Ballet file (hence the sliding) and I was going to set it up for a Ballet on Ice type animation, but ran into more problems than I did with doing it this way

I like the music, the idea, and the morph at the end is cool. The dance itself might need some fine-tuning. BVH files are hard to edit, because of all the keyframes. If you haven't done it already, delete most of the keyframes (leaving say 1 key per every 10th frame), and then go back and edit the motion from there.
It's a bad thing Poser doesn't have a "clean up" command...

cryptojoe this video was done in DivX format (to keep the file size down), so you need a DivX codec to see it. Sorry I forgot to mention that when I uploaded the video. The BVH file (dancing part of this video) has 1023 frames and each frame is a keyframe. Is there an easy way to delete most of these keyframes?

There's the "Resample Key Frames" function that has an option to re-arrange the key frames and insert one at a user specified interval. It also has an option that allows Poser to analyze the amount of change over time in the animation and place key frames accordingly.
I've used the Resample Key Frames function to clean up walk cycles produced by the Walk Designer.
Standard warning applies: Back-up the animation before trying!
The resample function works well enough for walk cycles but could have unforeseen effects on more complex animation sequences.
@Cryptojoe, I suspect this is DivX6 as it won't work on my Mac. The kind people at DivX haven't upgraded Mac DivX past version 5.2.1 - I think they're having problems with OS X.

I must say that I am very pleased with the animation. As toolz said, the sliding feet is about the only problem I saw with the whole thing. I especially liked the music. It was very original and was a nice change from the typical music used for such things. I am working on a project for my own demo reel and am looking for music I can use. Very nice work! The end is a great touch! Its too bad her skirt couldn't "flow" a little better, but it didn't really hurt the movie. I viewed this on a Mac. I'm using a program called VLC media player by VideoLAN. I attached their website. -PerryI'm embarrassed. I've got VLC and completely forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder... I agree that it's nicely done. You've set a nice overall mood with the dance, the music, and the lighting. I really like how you brout her in. I'm curious what you used to acheive the effect. I have a couple of intended 'helpful" suggestions though. I would have liked to see some eye movement and facial expressions. When people turn their heads they lead with their eyes. Also, when she does things like raise her arms she might also raise her eyebrows or drop her jaw (open mouth) a little - people make expressions when they reach. She could even simply close her eyes during some of the movements. Subtle things like that would make her 'feel' a bit more real. You might also try changing the camera angle. The feel of this reminds me of a couple of the songs in "Lord Of The Dance." If you do something along these lines again you might rent that and look at how they film some of the solo dances. I watched it again the other night so it's fresh on my mind and that's why these nit-picky things popped into my brain. Don't forget to add it to Renderosity's Animation Outlet. It's definately worth sharing. [It's funny re-reading these comments. Nemirc looks at her feet. I look at her head. The nice thing about this forum is that we can all meet in the middle.]
