Oh my God!!! The technology they come up with!!!!!!! I just read about some new Canon i think it was, that somehow adjust portrait-shots regardin on how the person is smiling. Different settings if the mouth is open and stuff....he sees that...incredible. Thanks for the link Richard...this gadget-geek always appriciates new cool stuff to add to the christmas-list. tongue.gif

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

Edit: regarding....not regardin....and about me referring to the cam as a "he"...i just dont know why i did that...probably sounds better if you refer to it...as an "it"...?

I have my doubts with this technology. It may work up to a point, but I just don't see them making tacksharp pictures from blurry ones. And that's just out of focus, what about movement as well. I know there are techniques for clearing that up, but only ipto a point.

Interesting article.Thanks. Does the 'toothbrush' help get rid of braces?I've always had a problem with that.Teeth in general seem to be difficult.

well - i've too read about this one... but it's dangerous... this "collectiong of information" for different levels... e.g. the cam they used has 16 MPixels - the resulting Pic has 0,1 MPixels... that's the amount of information you "waste" for recording the three dimensional information you need for a "post focussing"... :) but well - if technique gets further... perhaps this will one day be something usable for the "normal people"... ;)

I hope that this sort of thing however good or bad it is never hits the streets for the consumer. Already there is a great loss of skill and know how, there wont be any photographers left just picture makers/takers. Cynical I know, but it is happening day by day, I am all for progression, dont get me wrong, but it is important also that the "old methods" dont die forever. Simon

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Talent & skill have no substitute. As with any profession, the qualified artisans shine a bit brighter, and it's apparent to even the untrained eye.

very interesting that's for sure! :)

TomDart ( ) posted Thu, 10 November 2005 at 10:07 PM

still..what about pov and composition? To take wonderful snapshots is one thing...to do something and maybe, just maybe it can qualify as "fine art photography" is something else. Almost reminds me of doing a piece from a proven classical composer via computer. Close..still not the same. TomDart I have not read the link stuff...will now. I am just skeptical in the first place on stuff like this might be. Perhaps to eat my words in a moment but don't think so.

I read it. Still stay with the post.

I agree with LP's statement that hopefully this won't ever make the market to the consumer... "Already there is a great loss of skill and know how, there wont be any photographers left just picture makers/takers. Cynical I know, but it is happening day by day, I am all for progression, dont get me wrong, but it is important also that the "old methods" dont die forever." Well I guess it is a good thing that the camera doesn't give them talent, that is something you either have or you don't, and no matter how expensive your camera is, or what wonderful features it has, if you don't know how to make a composition or an intersting pov, you still suck! I have seen this syndrome becoming apparent with today's expensive digital cameras, people think that it is the camera that makes the image, and in all honesty it is the talent behind the camera! I don't think today or tomorrows technology will ever touch that. Brenda :)
