I know a lot of Poser users make comic books with Poser. Has anybody found software that facilitates the process? Somebody sent me this link to Comic Life, but it only works on a Mac and I'm not going to buy a Mac just for that. http://plasq.com/comiclife/ I looked around and found a PC program called Comic Book Creator, link at the top. I haven't tried either program, so I don't know how good they are. I tried search for shareware programs and couldn't find a single one. It's rather surprising that there doesn't appear to have been much effort to automate the process of creating digital comics. If anybody knows of anything else out there, I'd be interested.

It says it "lets you turn your PC game action into a Comic Book." Almost as if they're implying they want users to make comic books out of commercial video games. I'm sure there's more to it than that, like for example how to make original comic books, like the one Jeff Whiting created using Poser, and sold nationwide.

Let me know how you like Comic Life. Maybe it will someday be ported to a PC, though the reviews sounded as if it was built off the Mac operating system, so it may be more difficult than expected. Overall, the reviews looked very good. It was weird how the PC program seemed to be focused on capturing game scenes to put into a comic. It did say that it also would bring in digital photos, so that would probably apply to most image types or at least JPGs. The odd focus may mean a compromise in what somebody might want for comic book creation. Although I didn't save the link, anybody who wants to be a better tester for a comic book creation program, do a Google search for those words. It sounded as if it might be the same as the PC program I linked, but I only quickly looked at the page and deleted it.

Well, I just downloaded the Demo and whipped this up with existing images Ive made. It is easy to use and looks like something I am going to go ahead and purchase. I googled it and it looks like EB Games is selling it so I will run down to mine this weekend and see if they have the boxed version there. Dallas

Warmest Regards,

Dallas

e-Frontier has a Comic Book Creation program coming out sometime. They were demoing it at the San Diego Comic Con this year. I think it will be caled "Comic Creator". It looked very interesting, although it is geared towards creating black and white manga style comics.

I tried to install the Planetwide program from the link in the 1st post and it gave me an "Older version of Windows not supported" error. I'm running WinME and that's only 1 version back AFAIK so it must only be for WinXP. I guess I'll just continue using PSP 8 for putting my comics together then. It's a shame it sounded cool

Seems to me that these two programs serve very different purposes. Comic Book Creator takes existing images (such as Poser renders) and assists with laying them out, adding word baloons, etc. Manga Studio seems much more geared to drawing comics from scratch. So it probably includes all the features of the other program (and probably in a more elaborate form.) But if you can't already draw comic images like those in the illustrations here and on the e-frontier website, this program will not magically enable you to do so. Since this is the Poser forum, I assume that a fair number of people are (as I am) still at the "can barely draw stick figures" level of draftsmanship. For someone like me, Manga Studio would seem to be overkill. Especially since, given the features listed, I doubt it'll sell for anything close to $20. My guess is that its price will be much closer to that of Poser or Shade, if not more.

Also, noticed this from the Comic Book Creator website, when you click on the "Store" link:

Requires Windows 2000, or Windows XP

Sorry, Argon18. :-P
