HI Spudgirl, the trick is to use the magnet zone so that the magnet only effects the area that you want it to. ie. position the magnet zone over the ends of the hair then drag the magnet downwards using the "y" dial would be a an easy way of making the hair longer. You also use the "grouping" tool to select specific ploygons to be morphed with the magnet. You then have to bring up the properties of the magnet zone and tick the box named "group" then in the drop down select the group that you want it to effect. I hope that I've explained this clearly, just because it makes sense to me usually means it's double dutch to everyone else :)
I'd Like to know also. Do you choose a specific area before you 'add magnet'? The last time I opened a magnet it was looped over posettes head, and when I went to scale the magnet down (worst thing ya can do) it scrambled up that gal so bad... There are a bunch of tuts over at worph world that explain how the magnets work. I've read them, but I figure you have to practice a lot. And don't use your favorite model to practice on either.
Once your magnet has landed... as BillyGoats says on the head... Double click the Magnet part... Not the base. In the dialogue box that pops up there is an add 'element to deform option'... Choose the hair. Ok next you find the magnet zone (in props).. It is Spherical in shape. You just scale this to the size and shape you want and move it to the part of the hair you want to affect. Then you tinker with your 'magnet' dials until you achieve the desired result. My first attempts were hysterical to say the least and I am still learning... I find the magnets cumbersome so now I am making them into morph targets. I do this once I have the effect I want then select the hair.. Then go to Object Spawn Morph target... Give it a name.. Usually name it after what it does. I don't know if this is the correct way to use them but it is what I worked out after many hours tinkering.

Ok how do you use them to make hair longer? I noticed that Wyrmaster used them on VV's hair. And I have seen some people use them in the gallerys to make the hair longer etc. I read travelers Tut's amd they are great, but I just dont get it. I need a step by step tut on just hair. Im shure this is probably a serious newbie type question. I just havent really messed with the magnets that much and when I do I mess things up.
