I'm still working with ANIME GIRL figure. The problem that bother me is "Toon rendering" in Poser. Posetoon rendering is troublesome. Neither Poser5 nor Poser6 satisty me. Anyone knows a good tutorial of Toon rendering in Poser??

This really looks amazing, the anime-style version on the right is much closer then any anime-style render I've managed thus far. I hope you will consider releasing the head to us ^_^ I can imagine plenty of people will want to play with it.

WHy dont you try diferent shaders for her? try a more flat shader with no highlight, and consider increasing the edge blend so she gets cool outlines ^^ another thing, why dont you change her hair (maybe just a simple change of style and color) change her eye color (so the copyright issue wont be a problem), and do what PwithP did with Mizuho? she has a new head over aiko3 body, we just need rtencoder to make her work ^^ and ill tell ya, this is certainly the #1 thing im looking forward to, when it comes to Poser. Im truly in love with her. awesome job Yamato-sensei! ^_^ hope to hear some more news soon!

AFAIK there is no way to do professional-looking anime-style shading in Poser. It's necessary to use Photoshop (or similar) to draw good lines and clean up the edges of the color zones. Compiler, Trekkie girl et al. have prepared some very nice toon shaders for P5/6, but they have to be augmented by corrective work in Photoshop IMO if the result is to look like a professional anime illustration.

I've written several tutorials on creating anime-style images, but like Mateo said, you need to use a little Photoshop to really make them look good. Here are the links to my tutorials: D-Toon Anime Style Tutorial for DAZ Studio http://www.renderosity.com/tut.ez?Form.ViewPages=922 Z-Toon Anime Style Tutorial for Poser http://www.renderosity.com/tut.ez?Form.ViewPages=319 Anime Style Images in Poser 4 (very old) http://www.renderosity.com/tut.ez?Form.ViewPages=66 Hope one of them can help! Thanks for the update, it looks great! Talk to you soon. SnowS

The cartoon v line mode is better now in P6 it need so better colours. The cartoon outline in P6 is awful. The best result is from toon/cel shaders with the right light settings. evanime and HackWorthless have among the best result in the galleries I think.

I really like evanime's work so check out the rest of his gallery too. I dont' know how much is postwork though or how exactly to get that result. Maybe she/he can shed more light on how they do it. My results are nowhere near as good as that but I rely mainly on the toon shader nodes, a pack of toon shaders I got and modified is this one: http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=29666 Lighting is also very important to get the shading you want.

Yamato, I don't know if you have Daz Studio or not but I find that the cartoon rendering function is very good, or you could also try out a very neat utility called "Ink 9000" which does a good job of "toon-like" renders. See URL above.

I've heard the new carrara 5 (official version out in december sometime) plays nicely with poser and will make good toons. Mac and PC compatable. Love esther

Torulf, could you perhaps point me to a tutorial or more information on using the P6 Toon shaders? Someone asked me about them a while back and I couldn't help them...and now I'm curious myself. :) Thanks, SnowS

The toon shaders I use are common P5 toon shaders as from Compiler, Trekkie grrrl and Cresent. DarkSkills also have some cell materials. There is new toon packs at the ro market please. I knew nothing about them, but I think there are P5. If there is any improvements in P6 I do not know. Most of the improvment in my work is made true experiments with lighting. I have not seen any tutorial beside the already told. One fine thing it that is possible to combine different shaders with the blender node. See the picture how I created the markings for Bell. 1:free the cel-shader. 2: Conect the blender node in the shaders place. Connect the shader tree to input 1. Sett another shader or a coulor in input 2. Sett blending to 1 if you not want the shaders to mix. 3:Connect an image map to the blending and input your alpha map. The Cartoon with lines display mode is improved in P6. You can select the number of toon tones. Dr geep had something about it in his first presentation of Poser6. But this method needs a serious afterwork, ex adjust the hue/saturation.
