Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 08 8:41 am)
It does get a little tiresome. I mostly just skip them, unless there's something else about the image that interests me. I can't really complain, though, since I never post. I do, however, enjoy seeing images that I can learn something from, even if it's just a cool texture on exposed skin. In the meantime, I just figure that art is subjective, and even if a lot of the images aren't my cup of tea, they're apparently somebody's. If it makes the artist feel good to submit them, that's dandy by me.
Oh it's not the skin images that I find in bad taste,it's merely the images of half or fully naked vickies exposing all of their parts to the RWorld. It is a persons own personal choice in how they see their art,but this is after all an art submission website so I just feel the people post more for voting points rather than expressing their creative side. ;/
I'm doing not-really-popular stuff (toony creatures, mostly good old HouseMouse) and I'm proud of it. I've done one nude pic so far, and not for grabbing attention but because I felt this really had something to do with art (besides that was Valentine Day card for my man and I though a good card too). Just ignore stuff that you don't like, easy as that. Live and let it be, you can't change the way other people like to express themselves. Some are able to do it with artistic taste (doesn't matter what it is - animals, nude Vickies, plants, cars), other just post anything anyhow. Both kinds of people are allowed to do what they like, so let them be. You can't move a mountain by just ranting, can you ? Sorry for my poor English. It's difficult to express feelings in it when it's your secondary language ^^;

I do nudes sometimes because I like the skin texture and its a shame to cover it up....but then again I have a mixture of nudes and non nude in my gallery...I guess it also depends on the mood....If Im doing an emotional piece then sometimes I add nudity to give an emotional feel to it...kinda vunerable...but I dont do it coz i wanna show boobs and bits...
"I didn't lose my mind, it was mine to give away"
"It does get a little tiresome." Couldn't agree more wrdgirl. Theres artistic nudity, but that usually involves some style...something which the majority of naked Vikie images are sorely lacking IMHO. I don't mind people creating what they want; art is a freedom of expression which I am all for...but, oh how I so wish people would sometimes give their "freedom" just a little bit more thought. Cheers (who's never done a nekid vikie pic, but did have an idea for one just a couple of days ago ;))

Perhaps you're new here or haven't frequented the forums but this is one of two or three periodic SOED's (Subjects Of Endless Debate). The simple answer is people post what they like. Whether they think it's art is up to them. Obviously, your perception my be different. Ironically, one of the other SOEDs revolves around whether anything created with Poser is really "art" at all or just hi-tech paper dolls. There are plenty of folks out there who would be happy to explain to you how nothing created on a computer is art as well. Within the Poser community, there are some who believe that if you use stock figures, textures etc. rather than making your own, that ain't art. If you want to start a debate about what nudity is "artistic" vs what isn't have fun but hopefully you're not naieve enough to expect consensus. Just render what you want to render, look at what you want to look at and accept the fact that everyone is different. It makes life a lot less stressful :-)

I was going to add that im probably the only guy posting here but im not...so.... As for nude renders, errr yup, i have done a few, and no i dont see nothing wrong with it, no i dont do nude men, why? because i dont think nude men look in any way, shape or form artistic, but thats me. What i will say is Art is in the eye of the beholder, what one likes the look of another may not, after all some like a sheep cut in half???? (and i still don't understand how anyone classes damien hursts work as art) ohh arnt the nude figures here only allowed to be nude, the TOS wont allow anthing else, i wouldnt class large breasts as Porn, just someones idea of what they like. After all what would you class SVDL's work as???? If you claim his work was porn Rosity would loose one of it's nicest and Brilliant artists.. I think that i have said enough, and will probably be scalded for it...lol
Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.
Actually, I have been a member of Rosity for 3 almost 4 years and sometimes have come to the Poser forums. I was not trying to insult those whom do post nude images I was merely making a little rant on the subject as it says in the topic. Yes I know and have said it is a persons choice if he/she wants to post a nude image. I just feel that having so much free stuff and a creative mind can make an awesome picture with tasteful nudity. Honestly, I don't find someones art tasteful if they are trying to show off vickies naughty bits just for popularity votes. But to make matters short, coming from someone whom has no images what so ever lmckenzie I'm sure you tell us how you feel rather than show it right? Not to sound rude but your post seems a little trollish :)
shedofjoy, there is a difference between artistic nudity and just plain bad taste .As I said a number of times already I do like artistic nudity that actually is creative in nature rather than images of big breasted vickies running around and no real spark to the image. Yes art is in the eye of the beholder but as it is this is an art website and people can comment and complain on others work. I was not saying that all bare chested images of vickie are porn but there are images I have seen that have pushed it on that line.
"Ah, th old, you don't have a gallery so you have no right to an opinion" thing eh? I've stated on many an occasion that I am most definitely NOT an artist. I can however express my views on the subject of art and taste just like any other consumer. If you really want to see bad Poser "art," you can fine a few of my crude japes scattered around in various postings. If it's trollish to state the obvious then I suppose I must plead guilty. People can (and do) enjoy debating the issue but in the end, as the saying goes, 'De gustibilis non et disputandum' apologies for mangled Latin but in matters of taste, there really can be no dispute, at least not a sensible one. Personally, I don't see the value of such rants (your word) but that too is just my opinion. If it makes you feel good go for it. They're always an interesting diversion and I enjoy the back and forth. I never cease to be amazed though by this notion that some people just don't care what they post, no matter how "tasteless." I would think artist types would give each other the benefit of the doubt a bit more. And after lo these many years, I've finally been called a troll. My life is complete :-)

Okay, let me throw this hat into the ring...
I don't think people submit nude Vickies for votes. I have yet to meet someone who actually stated they wanted votes, and would do anything to get them. Of course, people love to get votes, and positive comments, it's human nature, but I don't think people are sitting there thinking "Oh, if I do this nude Vick with a big sword, dripping wet, with big boobs, and nice long red hair I'm sure to get a bunch of votes!"
Honestly, I think it just a matter of style and taste. Everyone sees art forms differently. I for one can't stand "modern art." I think the majority of it is just silly, but that is me, and I am no true critic. In the same line of thinking, when I was younger, I loved Rap music. Today, I still like what I consider "Old School" but I can't stand the new stuff. Again, that is just personal taste. Is it right or wrong? The clear answer to that question is no. It is never right or wrong to like or dislike something. It is human nature.
The thing about nude Vickies I think is this: it is akin to the difference between the ways Spider-Man has been drawn over time. Many Spidey fans think McFarlane was the best artist to have ever drawn the webslinger. At the same time, many people don't. I think McFarlane is the best comic artist ever, but that is just me.
Going through the galleries, and especially through those on my favorite artists list, I have learned one thing. You can find appreciation for anything if you make the effort. The artists on my fav list have very different styles, but yet, whenever I view their work, I am 9/10 times impressed by the total image. Some post realism, which I am a big fan of, but some do fantasy, some do work that is meant to be pretty, some of it is comical, etc. etc.
I guess that is my two cents, but you don't have to listen and or care. That's the magic of having your own personal version of free will! ;-)
That time of the month again? "They aren't hi-tech paper dolls, they're action figures! Girls play with dolls, guys play with action figures. :)" ROFLMAO @ JHoagland. I remember when GI Joe first came out. I think that was thier war cry. The first GI Joes posed better than the P6 figures. Guess I was training to use Poser before it was created. "I would think artist types would give each other the benefit of the doubt a bit more." Not at this site. If you have an opinion that is not the same as the majority/choice few, you are a troll. As for the rant. If you don't like it, don't look. Some are by hormonal crazed teens, some by very good artists. If they follow the TOS, then it's not anyones buisness to say it wrong. It's just different tastes.

Usually I don't post my nude males here (there are other pklaces more suited for the majority of my newest renders...) but I've got a fairly recent one in my gallery, which I DO consider an Artistic Nude. The link to that pic is right on top of my reply. Mostly I do not consider my pictures "art" at all, they're craftmanship at best, and some are just doodles that turned out well enough to post. I have no interests in nude Vickies. They leave me fairly cold. If I have the urge to look at a naked female, I can go find a mirror, and strip. And believe me, that is enough to take that urge away from most people... I have a good friend here who posts the most amazing ARTY nude Vickies ([jonbg1](http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?ByArtist=Yes&Artist=jonbg1), go check his gallery) but one of the reasons why his pics are Art, is that he doesnt' fall victim of the old BBTH syndrome (Boobies Bigger Than Head) But in the end, people will post whatever THEY like. I am aware that for some strange reason, not EVERYONE here is a huge fan of Severus Snape and/or Alan Rickman, so some may fird my pictures rater tiresome... still, I make what intrerests ME :o) no matter if it's "art" or not :o)FREEBIES! | My Gallery | My Store | My FB | Tumblr |

I've done a few nudes during my time here at Renderosity. When I was new here I made them because I didn't have many clothes to dress the poor things in. Later I would make some just because I wanted to and now I don't do them at all. I'm not saying I won't ever make them again, but at the moment they just don't interest me. LOL
My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!
I would have to add here that these Boobie boobs get really tiresome at times. One wonders (a): How the blimpy boobies allow the Vickies to stand up, and (b): If they've ever really studied or even looked at, human anatomy or even actually seen a real, live nude female. Just wondering. I'm not dissing nudity, in general, artistic nudity is welcome. I just dislike the kind that borders on porn. We all know that when we see it. I've seen some that not only defy artistry, but ignore human anatomy possibilities to the point of creating female mutants. Just my $.02 worth. I just ignore them most of the time. As they say "To each his own".

There are lots of different shapes and sizes but people making images will tend to make the ones they find the most appealing. In my gallery, you'll find several nudes, one of which is my Good Lady, Claire. She is rather well endowed but I never hear her complaining that she can't walk.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I know there are well-endowed females, I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about such grossly mutated and anatomically incorrect boobies, that they might just as well belong to a cow. I know some very well endowed females. As a matter of fact, my mother was one.

Just browsing through the threads.
Yawn
I've done this one before. Several dozen times. And in various poser-related forums.......
Well, I think.......yawn....I....think.......

I did some nudes and gave up! It's actually very difficult to do a nude well and I just couldn't be bothered with the extra work anymore. Add some clothes and you cover up a multitude of Poser problems such as joint issues, strange body shapes and the like - it makes life much, much easier! And, now I'm learning Painter, (albiet slowly) clothes make pictures much more interesting. I also want to model some.
I have no problems with Poser Porn as long as it's what it is. PORN! I MAKE Poser Pron. But I don't pretend it's art. It's ...well... craftmanship, as mentioned before. Pleasing to look at(at least that's my aim) and suitably tittilating. But it sure as heck isn't ART. To each his/her own, indeed. Some LIKE porn, and that's fine, but this is nott he place for that, so people cover their asses by claiming it's ART... I just finished another nude male pinup today. Technically I suppose I COULD post him here, since he's not sporting an erection or other no-no things. But I won't. Because this is not the place for THAT. There are other websites, like raunchyminds and r'otica that are made for that purpose. Bring the nekkid Vicklies ther and we will ALL be happy ;o)

I have a question that's slightly to do with this topic.. In the UK it is illegal to show womens breasts on advertisments with the nipple showing, ie you can show a woman topless as long as you airbrush out the females nipples.. BUT it is not illegal to show a mans nipples in ads. SO is i cut and paste a mans nipples onto a womans breasts (Minus the hair...lol) would that be ok? ;) or am i thinking tooooo much...
Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.
Why nudes? For years my computer wasn't up to rendering a figure and clothes in the same scene. I had to "SnowClone" clothes by rendering the figure and the clothes separately and post-working the hair. Still I can't hardly render V3 but in anything beyond a thong. How many times have I been tempted to render my figures both male and female holding a black square in front of them from neck to thigh... far lower poly count then clothes. Not all of us have Crays though it does seem a fair number do. .. plus there was all that Art History training where the ladies seemed to be either nekid or holding the baby Jesus.
gad, before you know it, people will wonder why some of the swords and scabbards are too long/heavy to be pulled out without someone helping..;) or why someone would fight with sharp objects and leave yer naughty bits exposed for the knife..;) Or why some of the Vickies appear to have a glassy=eyed stare most noncondusive to mortal mayhem..;)
If they're really that obsessed, send 'em to the BEA or something..;) the good news is the internet (and Poser have brought the ability to create pictures of figures to the masses..the bad news is that the Internet...;)

"Maybe it's just me,or has the 3D world gone from art to porn?" To tell the truth, I think the 3D world has always been a bit of both. In the real world, finding people to pose for art or porn can be costly as well as complicated. With 3D, a user's imagination is limited only by their current abilities. Take my gallery for example. While it's nothing spectacular, you'll notice the lack of nudes. Why? That's because I find it more challenging to make the "not-so-conforming" clothing fit, rather than just throw up a nude Vic. Granted tho, there are some very talented nude renderers floating around out there that amaze me with how much they can do with so little! I guess it really boils down to a matter of personal taste. To me, a pic of a woman in a bikini or miniskirt can be every bit as sexy as a nude photo. It all depends on the presentation.

As I have said I do find artistic nudity great but there is a line between art and porn.Everyone has their idea of what art is ,and isn't.This is a vast community of growing artist but I just see more and more people posting images of what I would consider to be non-artistic nudity.LoL For example, here are two little images I did just for fun a bit ago and one of my older images . I wouldn't consider the first one artistic nudity,if I were to put that as the thumbnail I'm sure I would get a ton of hits .Yeah I know that with the release of poser and all 3D programs for that matter sexuality does come out in renditions.Yes,through out history there have been artistic nudity which has been really artistic. The female/male form is a wonderful thing and should be shown in art,but to portray it in such a manner that makes you question if the artist is really doing it for artistic vaule or for more votes or hits or comments on his work.I mean go look at the top viewed images,3rd one's thumb says "Nudity! Big Breasts!" ,although funny it shows that bigboobs do get you more hits but if you were to look at it you would see his nice wonderful comment which I fully support :) .
For me it isn't a matter of art v porn. The line there is a little blurry anyway. (Someone once told me that a nude baby I had photographed -- viewed from the side and no G's showing -- was porn. Pthtttttt. :P IMO, it's a matter of convenience. There are so many new images posted every day, that I have to draw the line somewhere, so I mostly don't look at Poser Barbie. It's just cause I find it boring, not offensive. If there's something *else about the image that catches my attention, then I'll look, like a really pretty skin texture, good light quality or when somebody's made a good attempt at "hair room" hair. Other than that, I look for clever. That's about all I have time for.

Yes, I'm changing the subject... I remember when GI Joe first came out. I think that was thier war cry. I thought the first true action figures were the Star Wars toys, released in 1977. Lucas thought it would be a good merchandising idea to market play "dolls" to boys. But boys would never buy "dolls", so the toys were renamed "action figures". Star Wars was a huge success, stores sold out of the new "action figures", and by 1999, we have a glut of 99-cent "Jar-Jar Binks" action figures. :) --John

Very nice image kokabeel, the bottom one. I like the monochromatic look with the contrasting splash of color. I sure know some people who would consider it pornographic, degrading to women, yada, yada though, no matter how artistic the execution. I think I understand where you're coming from and I'm not saying people should pretend to like what they can't stand but today's climate (especially in the US of A) is a particularly good time IMO to have a bit of solidarity. If the hammer falls, pleading art will do one about as much good as pleading science did for Gallileo. Yeah, the sign at the top of the page says "Art Community," but if you start defining art too narrowly, you lose the community and vice versa.

You know I always wonder why people insist on posting nude vickies all the time. Not that there is anything wrong with it but it just seems that more and more of the art submitted is of bare chested vickies . As this is not to be an insult to those who do post only nude art I just question why people do it. I mean is it that people some how feel that if their art has "artistic" nudity(yes I do love some artistic nude renditions but the majority seems pornoish) in it it will score them more votes? Or is it that people often feel that since it's just 3D that it doesn't matter if she is nude or not.I have seen countless numbers of renditions, some good some bad. .For example, there is a certain artist whos work I love. He portrays women in artistic nudity which I do find to be "artistic". Then there are the infamous users who post big breasted vickies in every single image they create and it shows really no artistic value but more along the lines of perversion. Maybe it's just me,or has the 3D world gone from art to porn?
