Nice. My only complain would be that the blaster sound is horrible, lol. Maybe it just sounds too "kid's play" for my taste. And another thing. His right foot goes through the ground...

I agree with Nemeric. The motion looks good, but the sound is a little weak. The right foot sinks into what appears to be a rock... which is also evident in your screencap above. There's also some slippage on the left foot, which isn't nearly as noticable, but thought I'd mention it. The upper-body recoil motion is excellent.

I agree that the movement that's there is very nicely done. At a more conceptual level though, a. would a light or laser pulse weapon have recoil? b. would someone engaged in a firefight stand up in one place for so long? Item a. is purely theoretical so there may be recoil. What you've done looks great. Item b. seems a bit more problematic to me. I'd expect the character to duck now and then.
Before they made me they broke the mold!

I wonder why all the people (aliens?) that he's shotting at are all lined up so neatly. Shouldn't he turn a little to get the next victim? I understand that this came from a BVH of 3 different motions, but maybe adding in a little of your own animation for it's use here? Good start though! Looking forward to the rest of the WIP. :D
Maybe he is in some sort of shooting range thing :p

I think the weapon would have a recoil, as seen there. Normally, a laser wouldn't have concussive force, but we can imagine that military-grade "lasers" in the future are backed with some secondary propellant, so as to produce a violent blow on impact, along with the heat. Comes in handy against enemies that may have self-contained force fields, since it would provide "stopping power" if they were charging you. Remember, this is science fiction. haha
There's no evidence that suggests he's involved in a firefight. To me, it just looks like he's shooting at "targets" as they approach. If they're not shooting back, there's no reason to duck or move about. Although I agree he should pivot more.
The only problem with strictly using BVH or mocap is obvious here. That is, it often does not account for interaction with the character's CG environment, and there's no personal touch to the motion. It's detailed movement is realistic, of course, but some manual adjustments are almost always necessary. If you fix the foot that disappears into the ground, then it would be very impressive. Nice work.
