hmm... looks like a uvmapping problem to me. like you notice how in the further canister you can almost trace an imaginary line where the texture is the same up and down? try rotating the texture on one of the axes or changing the texture mapping (i.e. world cubic or something), if you can't change the uvmapping
I tried rotating the texture, it didn't help - but it's not UVMapped, I haven't got that far with UV. I've done the barrel tut so I can UV something if everything's already set up for me with the image all ready etc. But I don't know the necessary steps to get a Wings AutoUV Map out of Wings and into PSP to actually put the texture on. (Also, I'm not totally sure how to get such a UVMap back into Wings AutoUV...)

cornelp, I tried cylinder - it didn't look right to me - as a pattern I mean - I haven't got any further than staring hopelessly at the pattern and clicking loads of menus in Wings hoping for inspiration to strike and tell me what to do next. I don't know how to get that pattern out of Wings and into PSP so I can play with it... (nor how to get it back into wings again once I've finished, but I have a suspicion it might have something to do with refresh... I think... or is that a different prog) I know you were the one who told me about going into UVMapper classic and clicking on "Box" saving it and leaving immedialty - which has been useful on a number of occassions, but I'm trying to figure out WingsUV now, do you know how to do it with Wings?

Sorry I cant do AutoUV, I always had problems with that. If anyone else can do it, then kewl. I will be using UV Mapper Pro 2.0, but will do the job I think. Send me the object and I will UV Map it for U and send U the map along with the object. When U UV Map it, U can control the way the texture looks on it. Its up to U. Let me know.
Fran setup your scene in Wings with the camera Faceing the floor and then apply the texture to the Square that you will apply the texture too...Then Move the camera so it is squared up and all you see is the Texture then "RENDER" the scene out at Powers of 2 and you will be fine... I personally like rendering ot the textures at 4000x4000 and then Making seamless in PSP...Bringing down to 2048x2048...
" Fran do you have it set on Cylynder or Box for th texture in the texture Editor...?" I've tried everything in there.... except BOX... I'll go try that now, didn't think it was logical - cos it isn't a box. "Another thing you might want to do is make your Texture either Seamless or Tileing depending on what Paint Program you use." Um... come to think, this is a new texture so I may (i.e. probably) have forgotten that step... going to try that too, once I answer this... "Fran setup your scene in Wings with the camera Faceing the floor and then apply the texture to the Square that you will apply the texture too..." pardon??? Not following that at all... what square? I'm not applying the texture to a square, I'm applying it to a cylinder... or in this case the WHOLE cylindrical object, since when in the autoUV window, I can't figure out how to leave some areas for wings materials so I can use those in Bryce later..... I think someone did say something about that somewhere once, but there are so many different bits to doing a map in Wings that I've forgotten it AND forgotten where I might have saved the info to... if I did... "Then Move the camera so it is squared up" to what exaclty? "and all you see is the Texture then "RENDER" the scene out at Powers of 2" Huh????? (total bewilderment) Render in the AutoUV window?>???? I'm now completely lost with this.

But I don't HAVE a square, 2D plane or Billboard - all I have is my cylindrical nozzle... I really don't understand what you're talking about. I'm sorry to be so thick, but I'm completely at a loss here.

So how does all that help me get a texture onto the nozzle? THAT'S what I don't understand.

When you render the scene out you can bring the JPG or tiff or psd into PSP or PS and then make tileable then you can apply the texture to your Model as Cylyder or Box or what ever you wanted to in Bryce and it would Map right. Now you also can use these textures in Max,maya,Wings,Blender,Game Engines...Ect.
But... why go to all that trouble in Bryce? Why not make the texture in PhotoShop in the first place?
What's the advantage of doing that stuff with the 2DPlane in Bryce and rendering out at 4000x4000?
And won't rendering at 4000x4000 take about a week anyway?
Sorry about all the questions, I'm just trying to understand why you need to do it that way. Oh, P.S. " And in some Programs you can use the Greyscale/height maps as Displacment Maps to get Ultrarealistic Details." Which programs?
