Ah, great movie. I believe they recently came out with a "Collector's Edition." Why use a gorilla for satan?

I actually thought considering the assinine debate over Darwin's Theory of Evolution vs Intelligent Design, (in the States) that having an ape discuss and explain the nature of God was quite clever and powerful. Imagined if it happened to YOU at the zoo.LOL Cheers, RWB64

er... that's not an ape talking. It's Al Pacino playing satan in the movie "The Devil's Advocate." One would expect satan--the prince of deception and lies--to say such things about God.

I think you're missing the point a little Jackson, anyway how do you "know" he's telling lies or deceiving anyone, that's if either actually ever existed in the first place?

Gee a real gorilla didn't actually say all that? I am so disappointed... Of course I knew it was Al Pachino's voice. And I recognized it as lines from "The Devil's Advocate". You asked why use a gorilla as Satan. IMHO I thought it was appropriate as one needn't be Satan to think that the Judeo-Xtian God as he is portrayed by most mainstream religions is much the way Pachino describe Him. I thought it was a clever use of an Ape giving the lowdown(whether you agree with it or not) on God given the Evolution/Intelligent Design nonsense going on today.

"how do you "know" he's telling lies or deceiving anyone, that's if either actually ever existed in the first place" Jeese, it's just a movie and they are just lines written by a script writer. I never said anyone was lying. I just figured the writers would write stuff like that given the character. And I was just curious why he used an ape. The movie had nothing to do with the evolution debate.

I would presume that the gorilla/ape was used because much of the controversy over teaching evolution in schools centered around man being descended from monkeys/apes although I might not have made the connection if not for RWB64's post.

The animation reminds me of a long-winded variation of a YTMND.

Actually i had NEVER used my free DAZ gorilla LE and I just found some decent free texture for him and made the animation with mimic and this sound clip just for fun no creation vs. Darwin bullshit intended and dont give a rats ass about that debate sorry ;-)

One of my alltime favorite movies, with one of my alltime favorite actors! Pacino, not the ape. ;) (Although in the original movie, Keannu Reeve's southern accent was completely wrong for a native of Gainesville, Florida --- I would know, cause I lived there) Anyhow, cool animation, and interpretation. I enjoyed this. :)

I'll ignore the whole "intellectual design" debate above as I have intensely strong feelings about one particular side. For the animation, some of the words weren't matching up with the movements. This was my big frustration with MIMIC and why I stopped using it. I noticed that it was worse whenever the dialogue was ripped from a movie or song. Freshly recorded words with little background interference worked the best.
