I'm another novice newly struggling with the complexity of Poser 6. I was wondering if a tutorial exists for changing aspects of materials, as soon as I see the word node I get discouraged lol. I'm trying to understand how to make clothes shine more or less, or to be partially transparent or reflective etc and I don't know if you can still do it even if the clothes use a bitmap for example. Also bitmaps can be added in many different places (diffuse color, Highlight, Ambient, Reflection, Bump or Transparency for example) and that makes things even more confusing. So even the simple Material room bewilders me. I don't grasp clearly notions like highlight size, applying textures to highlights etc I also don't know the purpose of Bump or displacement maps at all actually. Are there any beginners tutorials with examples somewhere to explain all these different notions and their effects ? Thanks in advance Lunedust

Here's a question for The Doc: how did you come to know so much about Poser? Check all that apply: 1) At some point, you were on the development team (ie, an insider) 2) You have spent an insane amount of time methodically experimenting with and documenting all of its features. 3) You simply have an incredible intuitive grasp of this software; its inner workings are revealed to you while the rest of us stumble blindly 4) You have read all the Poser books cover to cover, even the boring parts, even the parts covering features you never use. 5) You ARE Poser, and after a trip to the Oracle at Delphi, you took her advice to heart.

re: 1) Are you kidding?

re: 2) Yup, done there, been that ... more than once. ;=]

re: 3) Um, perhaps, I'm still learning new "stuff" and, when I find it ... I try and share it ... in a tut. ;=]

re: 4) You really gotta be kidding !!! ;=[

re: 5) Nope, sorry to disappoint you but .... nope. ;=[

I'm not trying to cause trouble :) it's my shy way of paying respect to someone I wish I was half as good as. Is it not true that the Doc and Naysay has probably helpded every single person who needs it, at one time or another? The doc technically and Naysay for entertainment of course :) John.
