My Poser people like to eat potato chips from time to time while watching tv.Is it possible to make a potato chips bag in Poser? I like to have a new, sealed bag and an opened one.

geep ( ) posted Mon, 05 December 2005 at 9:23 AM · edited Mon, 05 December 2005 at 9:26 AM

Hi barrowlass and Virtua36,

@barrowlass

Dunno, depends on what will be covered ... this will be an interactive tut (as an experiment) and will be driven (in part) by the viewer's comments/requests ... ... ...

@ Virtua36

... ... ... like, um, say, a potato chips bag ... but that sounds like an open and shut case, wouldn't you say?
Now, if we model each individual potato chip in the bag, ...
... well, that might take a loooooooooooooong time, don't you think? ;=]

Holiday cheers,
dr geep
;=]

Edited to make a (very) feeble attempt to inject some humor. ;=]

Hi CODY,

Interesting suggestions ...

There are basically 3 different types of props:

  1. static props (not able to be animated)
  2. posable props (can be animated)
  3. props done as poseable figures (can be animated)

I plan to start with the very basic type of static prop.
If we can learn the basics of static props (#1), then creating the others (#2 & #3) is much easier.

Holiday cheers,
dr geep
;=] Edited because I felt like doing it. ;=]

I would love to know how to make nice posable sunglasses, for example. (If it's indeed possible). :) Or uhm.. a collar with spikes, or just with studs. Or some funky hair piece. Or wings (poseable?)! Just suggestions :)

lemur01 ( ) posted Mon, 05 December 2005 at 2:19 PM

Yes, we DO need this tut... trust me on this. I, for one, definately need this tut. I opened wings once... sort of went 'eek!' and closed it again. Jack

UVDan...

Y'ever hear the story of the old magician and the love potion?

"It's a penny a bottle," he told the young man.

"Just a penny? Amazing! I'll take one!"

A month later, the young man came back, ragged, bruised and worn-out. Outside the shop, several women could be heard screaming and fighting with one another.

"Please, please, tell me there's an antidote!" he gasped. The magician put a little bottle on the counter.

"That'll be one thousand dollars, please."

Geep... alright! I am much in need of this. I can't figure out Anim8tox, Wings, Milkshape, RayDream, Shade, any of them. I love Metaforms aproach but the edge artifacts make it useless for anything rectilinear. So I have to make all my props in Poser. Your help is very much appreciated. What prop do I want? A camphored box with just the most slightesly beveled edges so the bevel on a virtually 4 or 8 foot box would be a virtual quarter inch as opposed to a couple inches. And that this box be scaleable without throwing off the constancy of the bevel size. Why? I am always working with boxes and pedestals for my virtual painting studio scenes but the edges render too sharp to look natural. If I weld the verices the boxes render funny and if I use FireFly smoothing they blow up. Also... if there was any effect that would give the illusion of a gradual weld from one form to another as thought the two forms were cast as a single piece with a small and gradual transition between the forms... I have tried placing inverted cylinder segments over joins to "weld" them without having the vertices lined up exactly but it hasn't really worked out yet. Anyway... anything I can do in Poser or further understand in Poser is much welcome. Thanks.

I would love to know how (if at all possible with just Poser) to create a necklace or chain that would be at the right place on the model (near the neck at the back and near the chest at the front). Last time I tried, if I posed it near the neck at the back, it was floating in the air in front of the chest. ;o( Thanks for asking! Any type of jewelry would do BTW.

Oh, God, where do I start? Since I do a lot of architectural modeling..., how do I specify the dimensions and coordinates of a primitive, or better yet, of a compound object that has to be replicated many, many times, each in a very precise, yet unique, location? (As in, for example, a collonade?)

Nice one, Doc! Uhm.. "Static" props can be animated too. For instance, a ball is technically a static prop, but is animateable. moveable props have ..er.. moveable parts. (I know you know this, just elaborating) And sometimes, props are characters... (like a door, defined as a prop because it's not a person or animal, but technically a prop if it has joint parameters and loads from the Characters folder. Unless you cheat and rename it to .pp2 coz in that case you can have a character that loads from the Props folder, and.. Er.. NaySay.. Help...
