Do you have any problem to see these kind of banners, do you like more static ones...?

banners are evil. they make you buy things;p

I like animated bannersif they are done well, flash over gif cause they are smoother. I like static banners as well...but I don't see 98% of the banners here cause my scroll finger is to fast :)

Don't bother me none.

Renderosity is one of the least flash-heavy commercial sites around. One or two small moving banners on a page isn't a problem.

Now -- if Rendo started to go the way of Yahoo, or if it started to use highly irritating tricks like those annoying "Meet the Mudds" Jeep ads (the ones where the banner suddenly "spits" mud over the page that you are trying to read) -- then I'd be upset.

But one or two little flash ads? Big deal. The ads might even be for something that I want. I've bought a couple of items in the past as the result of an interesting banner -- but only once or twice. That's not my usual method of shopping.

I daresay you'll reach a larger audience with static banners, as many clients may turn off flash in their browser prefs. OTOH, the target demographic (gullible people who stare at flash banners) may mean more flash translates to more sales. if you have any doubt of the latter, just look at what television advertisers are doing now, in a desperate attempt to bottom-feed on their target demographic.

I would think small flash banners would be ok..nothing annoying like brilliant colors flashing at 90 mph, or moving with your mouse or scroll where one cant get away from it.. Something that is easy on the eyes, maybe a fading banner..something along those lines..otherwise a static banner.

Not a problem for me either - I have all ad content blocked from this site anyway and all Flash content globally blocked. I recommend Firefox with the adblock extension installed. In any case, the site's so slow that following any link for a product would be an exercise in futility.

I absolutely DETEST Flash banners as a general rule, because usually their just ALL OVER the damn place, flashing, flashing, screaming CLICK ME! no...Click ME!... But here, I can tolerate them. They aren't very obtrusive most of the time.

I block Flash on this site. I've seen too many Flash banners that are too annoying to tolerate. I don't hate Flash, per se, I just hate badly done Flash, and unfortunately, too many people do Flash banners badly so now I block them all. ;-) I suspect I'm not the only one who does this, and I've heard merchants say they get a higher click-through rate on static banners, but I could be wrong on that (my memory's not what it used to be ;-). bonni

I despise Flash banners. Too distracting. Like Bonni, I have Firefox set to block all Flash from this site. (All Flash, everywhere, actually.)

I don't block all ads here. I like seeing static ads, and often click on them. But SWF and GIF banners are blocked, so I never even see them.

"I block Flash on this site." You can single out websites to block it from? How?

The easiest way is to use Firefox's AdBlock extension. You can use wildcards. For example, the banner currently at the top of my screen is: http://market.renderosity.com/photos/AdExcl66692.jpg To block all banner ads at Rosity, add this to Adblock: http://market.renderosity.com/photos/* To block Flash banners: http://market.renderosity.com/photos/.swf To block animated GIF banners: http://market.renderosity.com/photos/.gif There are also several Firefox extensions solely for blocking Flash. I use the Flashblock extension. It replaces Flash animations with a button you can click if you want to see it. It has a "whitelist" option, so you can allow Flash from some sites while blocking it from others. I also use NoScript, which blocks Java and Javascript.
