Hardly USELESS, Casette. Lupa is asking a question and providing the link as an example of what he/she wants to do... Depending on what kind of cartoon-effect you want, you can use different approaches. You can use the toon shaders with or without the Toon Outline, you can use the Cartoon-with-lines preview and you can z-toon your pictures. All givees different results :o) And of course you can postwork your stuff to get a truly unique effect. Here are some examples, the first 3 are mine, the last one is from a friend: Toon Shader + Toon Outline Cartoon-with-lines (and postwork like whoa) Z-toon And the graphic novel my friend Mariamus made

Ok, I know what you mean. I now get a tutorial from someone. It is in my language (it is german). I thank you for your reply. @cassette: if you want this tutorial here is the link, but it is in german: http://www.digitalfairy.de/ You must go under Tutorial and toon shader. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the link, Lupa :) And they have an english version of the site, so I'm reading the Poser5 Toonshader tut without a translator ;)

You can get quite a variety of effects out of p6's toon shaders and it's various display modes. This image is actually a composite of shaders with the toon display mode outline overlayed in photoshop (Use single tone, with a white background and Multiply the layer in photoshop) You will have to do some postwork to get the lines looking good though. Also don't cel shade backgrounds, unless you want a simpsons/family guy look... Traditional animation has hand painted backgrounds. I usually do a realistic render of the background then photoshop it to look painted. The display modes alone can produce interesting results. I really like the smooth toned mode... Unfortunately you need a model designed for those modes (no transmaps) like animedoll or F202.

linkdink - Here's what Mariamus writes about how she made the GN G 1. Do not write me if you have questions regarding how I made the graphic novel look. The look was obtained using a variety of filters, and it's a mess to explain. Besides, there are several tutorials online about creating a graphic novel look. I'll point her to this thread though. Perhaps she can give a few tips anyway :o)

Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge there is no way to create a professional quality cartoon look directly from Poser 6: some degree of postwork is necessary. ernyoka1 provided some examples of images using different Poser 6 cartoon shading/rendering methods. Attached is a link to an image I made using a different DAZ studio method created by SnowSultan (tutorial on this website).

Snowsultan's D-Toon tutorial is at the link above. D-Toon uses DAZ studio whereas Z-toon uses Poser 4,5 or 6.
