Fractals F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 3:03 pm)
Glad you posted this - I thought maybe I was the only one experiencing this.I've been finding it quite slow on and off recently too.
Think of the internet as a spiderweb (or a maze) of interconnected computers. Then think that if one or two of the computers between yourself and RR's server are having resource problems like overloaded bandwidth - then you can see where we could all experience some delay problems sometimes... I tend to get the worst slowdowns at about 4pm to 6pm my local time, which is when all the schoolkids jump on the internet and jam up my ISP's bandwidth a bit... lol! Technically, the fewer "hops" between you and the server you are trying to access, the faster your connection will be - less chances of problems on each of the "hops"... When you are experiencing delays, try opening a command (DOS) window and type in "tracert www.renderosity.com" and hit enter... that will show you how many "hops" or servers that you are travelling through to get to RR, and it will also show you the time in milliseconds how long it took to get to each hop - you will soon see where the problem lies... T.
Who? Me?
What I'd like to know is why is this just happening recently - is it the time of year or something, and why on earth does it happen middle of the night US time? It's terrible this morning (09.30 where I am, not US)- can't post comments or even see some pictures without a Session SQL error coming up - getting very frustrated now....
My guess is that people are clogging the Internet doing cybershopping for the upcoming holidays! Then, after Christmas, there will be another glut when new computer users come online, lol. You also may want to clear your cache and defrag your drive, and especially run a spyware cleaner. These things all contribute to slow processing. Also, check the programs running in the area on the lower right of your screen, next to your clock. Close any that you are not using, sometimes these 'leak' and cause a slowing of your processor.
Fractals will always amaze me!
Ooops! Didn't realize my previous post had come up so many times - must have been when I was experiencing problems and the message wasn't (apparantly) posting. Sorry about that everyone - I've deleted the excess now.
It might be an SQL problem. Just imagine that the table storing data become more and more full. You can get an idea of the amount when you look at the galleryid number that is connected with every image posted here. And tables getting doubled in their size may result in SQL queries running double the time to build up the HTML pages... Or four times...
:rolleyes::sad:

I have a high-speed connection..and, still, it is taking me forever to view and leave comments. What happens to cause this interminably s-l-o-w connection? No more Friday traffic than usual..seems to me. I don't have time for this. Primarily venting, but does anyone have a reasobale explanation?
