I've modeled a starfighter in Carrara 3.04 but I'm having problems with the bottom of the cockpit side windows not being straight, although on the texture map, generated in photoshop 7 the bottom is straight not curved as it appears on the model. Any ideas?

Hello slappy, There can be several reasons for this. The first, easiest thing to try is simply increasing the Object Accuracy in the Rendering pane in the render room from the default 2 to .5. See if that works. If it doesn't, come on back and we'll get if figured out. Mark

Well, that's exciting.

Is the hull created with the Spline Modeler? If so, the map may be warping following the cues of the bezier handles/points. Solution: convert to a vertex model. If it still persists, then remap the object in the vertex modeler.

If it's a vertex model to begin with, try tessalating the facets on the side of the hull.

Obviously, something is allowing the UV coordinates to be irregular. Hopefully one of these options will do the trick.... Texture mapping has it's own private little set of frustrations and joys. The issues you are having are not unique to Carrara alone, either. However, the more you model and map successfully, the easier it gets until you're only pulling out half the hair on your head. :D
