I am sure that it is just as funny as the attempts some of us native English speakers make when we try to speak another language. Some people move easily between languages, but there are some of us who should always travel with a trusted interpreter...and that includes me. When I was in a Water Conservation Division, we had one of our ultra-low flush toilet pamphlets translated professionally into Spanish. Unfortunately, the professionals were not Mexico-American but were New York Puerto Ricans, and there was a enough difference that the translation left our west coast native speakers doubled over with laughter when they saw the brochure (which we proudly printed 10,000 of). We had to ditch the translation and start over again, using our staff as our authorities the second go round (which we should have been smart enough to do the first time). It was a learning experience, and gave me new respect for the dangerous grounds of nuance in language.

I agree, although I think that English throws some real curves in translation, so many words that look the same, but are pronounced differently depending on the context of how they are spoken. Still, it certainly gave me a laugh, which is always a good thing.

By the way, I do know that should be Mexican-American. Ugh. Proof before post, proof before post, proof before post.

Hey, the funny thing is, I never noticed until you mentioned it... I suppose thst how so many "Errors" get through... but Proof before post is good...

And, who knows, you might even become elected 'prez'? WINK.
