Subject: So is poser 6 better then poser 5 more powerful?

just wondering if poser 6 with the new upgrade is better then poser 5 or more powerful with memory handeling?

reason im asking is i loaded a figure m3 and clothed him textured him and added some hair and when i went to import an electric guitar prop, poser 6 upgraded with the lastest patch.... crashed on me and told me im out of memory.... kinda stupid because, i can load several times more stuff like this in poser 5 and not have any problems at all, so what gives?

They did add more features in P6 from P5. I dunno if I can consider P6 more powerfull.

Iv prety much had it with poser 6 im about to just write it up as a loss. I guess ill just have to move everything back over to poser 5 and leave it there poser 6 has just got on my last nerve, the patch should have fixed it by now, but someone did a real crappy programming job, sooooo bad they could not even fix it with a stupid patch if you really want to know what i think.....

For some reason Poser6 is incredibly slow on my machine as well. So I use P5 instead. P6 has all sorts of nice new things but it's just too slow for me. Allso I get very "tired" looking renders out of P6 and can't figure out why. Maybe I just light my scenes the wrong way in P6?

Another Luddite here. Got P6 on the first day, but everything runs so much slower, I also don't have the patience for it. Timed it the other day and a scene that rendered in two minutes in P4 took over twelve minutes in P6. Does that sound right to you guys or might I have some other problem slowing things down?

P6 is better then p5 then p6 realy working. P6 have fewer bugs butt sems not work on al computor wat are a huge bugg. P6 works much better for me butt sr2 not work. Its make my p6 krash in the upstart. I hade to reinstal it. Im also fraid for upgrade my computer if it can make p6 to not work.

Okay so if you have a fast computer, P6 is still slow??? I get mad at PP for being slow, P6 damn near sits still but I thought it was the old puter. Been thinking about switching back myself I just really love the multiple runtimes ;)

I went from P4 to P6. I missed P5. When I want to do a simple scene, I use P4, because P6 is too slow and fussy. It does have nice features such as the advanced specularity settings. Concepts such as sub surface scattering are still a little too advanced for me, but have the potential to create more realistic renderings of flesh.

My only real grip is the whole library system is Cr**p and takes way too much time to navigate. I think I should have to buy another programme to navigate the library they should have fixed it better. Rowlando

I think that P6 is much better than P5 or P4. It took some time to get P6 working, and it seems to require something like CRPro to keep the libraries functioning at decent speed. But it does so much more than P5 - the hair previews is almost worth it by itself.

Poser 6 renders better in Firefly than Poser 5 if you use Manual settings and get them right. It seems (and no I don't want to start a flame war!) that SR2 causes more problems than it solves whilst SR! for Poser 6 is )relatively) stable. However, whichever version of Poser you have,memory management sucks, even on a machine with 1.5 gig of RAM and 2 gig of virtual memory.

Poser 4 and poser 5 l;oad up more figures into a single scene then poser 6, iv only been able to get one fully clothed figure into poser 6 and wheni went to import a simple guitar prop it crashed and deleted my figure.

also note the runtime libraires freeze up and the stupid thing when it does render takes a year and a day to do waht poser 4 can do in a few minutes....poser 5 is a little slower then poser 4 about half as fast because it has to load more stuff into memory.

I think the problem is they are trying to make the program one big program with different rooms for doing stuff instead of having it so you can load what you need to use when you need to use it.....

Maybe they need a patch to clip off some of the functions your not useing at the moment so you dont have to load them, then maybe the program will run alot faster...

oh and i why is it everytime we see an upgrade of poser it's the same damn program, why can't they just build a brand new program with all new stuff that supports the old files of course.

Seems to me they got a program they tinker with until they call it an upgrade, Why not just program a new poser from scratch so you can make it faster and add the things people really want instead of keeping a dinosuar program going that they must not know a whole alot about, If they diud they would not keep useing the same program code and just make a new program that works.

Why? Cos it would cost a fortune to re-engineer a program that (almost) works, from scratch. You're looking at 10-15 man-years work there (minimum), with all those programming specialists to pay. And if they did it properly, to recover the investment, they'd have to increase the price 10-fold... And then it wouldn't sell. Not at that price, to their current market, which includes a vast number of hobbyists. So they'd lose money. Nuff said.. Cheers, Diolma (Who actually LIKES P6) And Merry Xmas:-))
