Hi, Meshi, Well, it's a lofty goal ;) But a worthwhile one. Making a skin texture for DAZ figures is very time consuming, but well worth it in the end :D. The first thing you'll need is templates. I use the templates made by SnowSultan, because he makes great guides, and I love his notes on the templates. (the link at the top of the post is to his freestuff.) Second, you have to figure out whether you want to create a photorealistic or hand painted texture. Neither one is easy, lol. I'm not going to sugar coat that...its hard to hand paint a texture, and it's hard to maniuplate photos on a template to create a texture. What I recommend is to get some magazines, some close up photos of people you know, and really study the skin tones. The fluctuations in the skin, freckles, scars, etc. If you plan on making female textures, makeups are always an option, so study the way different styles of makeups are applied. I've found that the easiest program to work in for skin texturing is Photoshop, but that is a personal preference. I use Photoshop for skin and Paint Shop for cloth ;). The reason I recommend Photoshop for skin is, well, the healing brush isn't in PSP, and the clone tool is easier to control. However, it's a personal preference ;). Beyond that, whether you paint it by hand or use photo-references, study the templates. The flow of the UV Map shows you where to put what, really. it's all a matter of tweaking the texture, working in layers, experimenting, and blending. I've tried a lot of tutorials, both purchased and free, and I haven't found one that is complete for me. But I have found that the templates are a great map to use ;) MS

I've recently found these tutorials and they are really good - step by step instructions which are easy to follow. Ideal for Photoshop CS2. You can download free texturing brushes here too which are excellent. You should be able to save the textures as jpg.images and apply them in the Surface tab in D|S (Take a look at my second skin tutorial on this site to give you an idea of where to save to, how to apply etc). I did a test one yesterday and it didn't look too bad for a first attempt:), so it can be done:) http://www.digitalproducer.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=31082 Also, if you want to use V3 you can get V3 templates free on the Daz site.
