Subject: Bug in Poser Import?

Phantast ( ) posted Sat, 31 December 2005 at 9:44 AM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 12:11 AM

I have found what looks like a bug in the Poser import, whereby clothes that conform in Poser don't in Vue. I have had this several times now, and the problem is invariably skirts and dresses. They may follow the character's legs in Poser, but once they get into Vue they are the basic obj mesh with no deformation. It means a lot of postwork on the image to draw in the skirt where it ought to be. Anyone else noticed this?

Is it just items that have "Body Handles" for moving the geometry ?

If it's for a still, one workaround would be to save the offending item out as an OBJ file, reimport into Poser and setup the materials as normal before doing the transfer to Vue.

No, it happens with ordinary conforming items without bodyhandles, but only, as far as I have seen, with skirts that follow leg movements. I'll certainly try your workaround - I thought of a different one but yours is better.

I found that if, before saving as a pz3 file, I locked the actor and all the items on him/her, it imported into Vue fine then. :)

Another possible alternative would be to Memorise the clothing figure (or all figures) just before saving.
This should be quicker than locking actors.

(I wonder if this is related to a gremlin in P6 SR2 -> http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=2475355 )

Are it dynamic clothes or conforming. This would be good to know. And what build of Vue are you using? And are you on Poser 6 SR2? Questions and questions. But makes it easier to understand maybe. Have you tried out to play with the quaternian interpolation on or off maybe to see wether this makes a difference? It could.

As I said above, "ordinary conforming items" - i.e. not dynamic. Vue-i build is 5.08-2. Happens with Poser 6 without SR2, I'll have to check what happens with SR2. I'll also try the quaternion thingy.

I have now found out two things: 1) The problem also applies to anything using easypose settings. 2) It is quaternion interpolation that does it. So that means that everytime I do a Poser import, I have to remember to uncheck the quaternion interpolation box as well as changing the radio button from "whole animation" to "single frame". You would think that Vue would remember the last setting, but it doesn't. Anyway, thanks, wabe, for solving the problem.

Bitte bitte! I was responsable in a way for this (quaternian) button because i had a Poser animation that was different in Vue than in Poser. Reported it via technical support and we got the button (that solved my problem as well). Now report about the not staying settings, hopefully this will be solved then as well.
