I am a beginner and dont know what a discombobulation is but here is what i think I know:- On windows there is a command window that opens when you launch blender which stays open while you are working. It usually starts with a message saying "using Python..." and if there is some error it will say so there. Blender also uses an internal Python regardless of which version you have installed so as long as you dont try to make a call to a script that needs an external Python you will be fine. If you have a special script to run you need to install it in Blender; if it is not working with 2.4 after you installed it then look at the command window for an error message. Maybe the script needs updating for Blender 2.4.
yup..already upgraded to Python 2.4 from the Python site (though the Dead Parrot references have me confused..;)
I'm wondering if uninstalling 2.3 was a mistake. I'll try seeing if I can install Discombobulator as a seperate plugin (though the whole thing, with all the bells and whistles show up, it only errors out when you hit the 'Discombobulate' button
For the folks who don't know what Discombobulator is; it's a script that adds 'greebles/nurnies'. Which are little bits of cubes, and faces, that can be spaceship sides, cities, whatever. Great effect, when it works..;)
Let me ask this of those whose 'disco' in 2.4 is working. What is the path it's directing to? thanks..

I tried that out after I read your post. It's a cool script. Would be great for easily making some space ships.

Upgraded to 2.40, tried to do a discombobulation on a cube, no settings changed, etc., and get an error 'Python error, check console'. I know Python is a scripting language used by Blender, but where's the 'console'? And when I get there, what exactly am I checking? am I going to have to reload the script from the original file (as an add-on)? please gimme a clue..;)
