Subject: millie jcm for mac??

I was going to buy her, but... I saw under the thumbnail: PC Only. Does anybody knows if it will work on a Mac converting the items with Maconverter? Thanks in advance.

I have no way of knowing what extra, if anything is needed for a Mac. The UVS encoding had a switch to make it Mac compatible and I enabled this. Otherwise I just do not know. I did not do anything extra to make it incompatible.

I have your previous version of millie. I translated it with Maconverter and she have always worked perfectly on my Mac. So I guess this one will work too. But this time its not free, its 30 bucks, and if it doesnt work, no refunds... ;-)

It looks like we will get someone to check it out, but for right now, I would suggest those on Mac hold off. and wait for the definitive answer.

I got her installed on my Mac. If you have the Millie.obj file from Saluda, then you're set since it is the same file that Millie JCM uses. However, if you do not install the JaPubicHair.obj and PixieCutHair.obj files from the hair.zip archive into the hair folder inside the Geometries folder of your Runtime folder first, you can get a nasty message saying: "Cannot open resource file. Runtime:Geometries:hair:JaPubicHair.obj or PixieCutHair.obj" and get a two-faced Millie as shown below. This is because this cr2 file makes the mistake of having the props already attached to the figure. Jaager should instead submit a cr2 file of Millie JCM without the pubic hair prop and the pixie hair prop already attached to Millie and instead submit those as separate smartprop files with their obj files, giving the user the option to install those separately. BTW, the obj files should have their type and creator set to TEXT and ttxt for them to be properly recognized by Poser. You can use Resedit or the MacConverter utility to do that. If you do make the mistake as above, just click on her head to delete those extra heads.

ROFL I think I had 3 heads. 8-) I'm moving those files to the right folder now. (oops, I think that mistake is called "Read the directions before you press the "Create" key!") ;-)

If you do delete those extra heads, you also delete those props with the missing geometries. For Mac users with the Poser Pro Pack installed, there is an additional nasty surprise with the original cr2 file. You'll find that the cr2 file looks for the textures of those two props in their German names! That means that when you click on the button to stop Poser from looking for those files, Poser will quit and a dialog box will pop up saying that it quit due to a Type 2 error. This crash does not happen if you have Poser 4 only. I resaved that cr2 file with Poser 4 and made sure that the textures for those props were set to None to avoid having Poser ask me where the textures are everytime I choose Millie JCM as my character.

Yes, there are three heads in that picture. one is the green head (Ja Pubic Hair prop), the second is that blue one (Pixie cut hair V3) where you see peeking out of the base head. The base head is rotated to the right as a default position in this cr2 file.

The JCM's would have to be created for the clothes as well. This figure is really for more realistic musculature on a posed nude. -Jeff

Yep. Use Victoria when you pose her with her clothes on and Millie JCM when you want to pose her nude.

Can the JCM be moved to the clothes with morph manager? I just bought it but did not read too much about outside seeing the animation.

My reasons for using the exernal calls was to keep the CR2 as lean as possible. I have a problem with the smart prop option working for me. I have not quite figured out what I am doing wrong there. There are so many files as it is, I figured a PP2 and an HR2 would just make it that much larger. You could save the hair and the prop to their respective libraries if you want to keep them and delete them from the figure. I think it will remain an external call as a separate file. I got used to Zygote using external calls for props and decided to mimmic them. And Richard, I tend to do the same thing - do it my way first - I just did not anticipate that the props would be ignored or the effect if they were. Thank you for diagnosing and curing the problem. I do not care for zips that contain a directory tree for the same reason - they never match the way I want to do it. I figured everyone has a Geometries:hair and :ZygotePeople ,but I would resent it if someone decided on a folder in library:character for me, so I did not impose it on anyone else.

Actually, what I'd like to see is an update to this already excellent effort by Jaager to further improve the JCMs of the hip, buttocks and thighs and make muscle movements along the hip joint more realistic, especially when you bend the thighs more than 90 degrees (as in pulling her thigh to her stomach) or when you have her extend them sideways and see the distortion of her buttocks. As far as movements of the scapulas, I would suggest a JCM to rotate the lower part of the scapulas outward when you raise her arms above shoulder level

Conforming clothing is a separate figure - each clothing item is a separate figure - A morph would need to be made for each involved group of each item of clothing one by one. Maybe a medieval monk could do that, but it is an open ended problem, since new clothing appears all the time.

Richard, can you get me somethng graphic. The reason that I have not seen the buttock problem - my JP set up max's at 90 degree thigh and 40 degree buttock. I split the bend between the groups and probably can not go as far as you do. I need to use the native CR2 - which I used for this - and look at the extremes. Whoever set up the JP on Victoria does not think of joint movements in the way that I do. This is not to say that they are not correct, but I can not pose a figure using their set up. Scapula - also a picture - I live alone and can not easily see the movement on myself.

DM - thank you - As I said, the effect impressed me and I am not meaning the quality or lack of of my morphs - just that the muscles moving with a pose is so much more life-like. I was wondering if it was just me. I have had about half of these morphs since August. I wish I had looked at this earlier.

Yes, pleeeeeeeeeeeease, rtamesis!! I want her!! ;-) However, the problem you talked about seems to be easy to fix. Am I right? I just have to install all the files included in the .zip, open the figure in poser and save the pixie hair prop and the pubic hair prop as separate props in their own library (Props). If this is just what I have to do, Ill buy her now. If it is something more complex, Ill wait. Thanks everybody.

Yes, I see the eye morph, and it's a definite improvement in her looks. Arturito, I just sent Jaager the Mac version of the cr2 file, and I'll leave it to him to upload that as an update for Mac users who bought Millie JCM. Yes, it's quite easy to fix the problems as long as you have the millie.obj file already installed as you said you have. First, unzip the hair.zip file, fix the type and creator of the two obj prop files and install that in Runtime:Geometries:hair folder. Next, combine the original Millie JCM.cr2 and the Millie JCM.rsr file using the MacConverter utility to form the mac version of the cr2 file. You can then install that into any folder inside the Runtime:Libraries:Character folder. See my notes above regarding the textures of those two props giving potential problems to Poser Pro Pack users and how to fix them.

Just to make myself clear about the Mac version of the cr2 file, all it does is set the textures of the two props attached to Millie to None so that PPP users who install Millie JCM will not crash Poser repeatedly when they attempt to select her for the first time and Poser tries to find the textures of those props with German names. The idea is to allow Mac Poser 4 and PPP users to then select the textures themselves with the English texture files in Jaager's package. You still have to first put the obj files of those two props in the hair folder as I stated previously to avoid the triple headed Millie as shown in the picture I posted earlier. Hope this helps clear things up.

Hi, there are two alternatives available. 1) Mac user can use Maconverter to strip out the texture references, just turn on both "CleanUp map references" and "Delete". You could recommend this in your read-me and save yourself from posting a separate package only for the texture refs. 2) Mac user can use Macinstaller to re-apply the correct references permanently. This will also check/ensure if the hair meshes are available - if it can't find it where Poser will look for it, it will prompt you to locate them (and copy/install them), if you can't select them (because you don't have them), then you will know about this problem.

Ive just downloaded Millie, and it works perfectly on my Mac. I just decompressed all the .zip files and drag and dropped the entire folder on MartinCs MacConverter. The only thing I had to do was to change creator and type of four textures (long names in windows makes the mac loose the last characters. For example, "Pubic hair straigh touter trans.", I had to rename it to "Pubichairstraightoutertrans.jpg"). Thats all. No problems. Thanks everybody for your help.
