(Grins) Sadly, 3dmax is a poor modeller when compareed to Bryce. I'd delete it IIWY and concentrate on Bryce whuch has much more to offer and renders rally fast these days! ;-)

And in my final hours - I would cling rather to the tattooed hand of kindness - than the unblemished hand of hate...
Yes Cardinal Bryster, I'm aware of the heresy of which I commit. And lo' though I may be struck down by the vengeful Bryce gods, I must follow my convictions and suffer the slings and arrows of puritain derision! I am a heathen polytheistic 3D app user. You may cast the first stone your eminence, but only if thou art without sin yourself. ;-))

LOL...no, it's still alive, but DOS has pretty much disappeared. I have a 40 and 120 Gb HDD chuck full of software from over the years and the idea of having to reinstall all that software after a OS upgrade together with all their registration numbers having to be located just doesnt appeal to me. Not to mention those software packages which may not have the required drives to be upgraded.
3dsmax 5? I have you beat, Quest... I'm still using version 3 for modelling!! Heck, I found a few free maxscripts on the net that give me almost as much modelling functionality as they have now in version 8! Well, ok... not quite as much, but good enough for me. The only reason I didn't upgrade since Max 3 is because I can't afford to yet, plus I'm waiting to see what happens now that Autodesk purchased Alias. Maybe we'll see a 3ds Maya. haha. I bought Bryce just before Xmas, and have been playing around with it. It's a nice little app for quickly putting together some large outdoor scenes, but I'm not thrilled about the material editor, and I miss being able to script out tedious things. Does Bryce support scripting?
3dsmax 7 user here ;-) love modelling in 3dsmax! awesome stuff B-) I haven't managed any scripting yet though in 3dsmax, dunno what I should use it for yet at the moment... Doesn't seem to be any scripting in bryce, though they might have a hidden bit of script stuff that was just never released? there's more things in bryce that they worked on once and then left unreleased. @WinME; WinME sucks, XP has better memory management and is more stable now then my winME ever was.

Scripting for Bryce, no, not that I know of. Scripts come in very handy for they take the toil out of doing certain tasks in 3D Max but it involves a fair amount of learning to get a grip onsort of like basic programming. To go beyond 3D Max 5 you need Windows NT, 2000, XP or above. Anything less and 3D Max wont work at least not to full capacity from what I understand. Window Me has been very, very good to me to get a phrase out of SNL. Ive had no problems at all with Windows Me in the 4-5 years Ive used it and its not even supported by Microsoft anymore. Ive contemplated upgrading but like I said, having to relocate and find all those registration keys, having gigabytes of different software packages and not being sure of which programs are upgradeable without special drives, shies me away from doing so. If on the other hand, I have a massive system crash then of course Ill upgrade to a higher Windows version.

Putting a shout out to any Brycers who use 3DS Max as a modeler. Just wanted to know who you guys are as I've chosen this app as my modeler of choice to supplement my Brycing. The Max forum is a little sleepy and I'd love to be able to IM people who are more frequently online.
