I hope you don't mind Cyn, but I thought I'd start a new thread for those people that already posted train shots in your most excellent Simone but had more they wanted to share. I have to agree that your Simone really generated some awsome photos. I hope everyone has some more to share... Abandoned car by the Lake Placid Train Museum. I keep forgetting what kind it is, doh. It has pincers so I figured it was used to pick up railroad ties. I loved the rusty textures on it ((wink)). ;']

Yeah...I like this and love train tracks and trains. Going to work but have some for after. I almost did this myself Kort.... after seeing Marlene say I was rural...LOL, I wanted to show some of the more high tech.

Oh my....are you aware of that I have a whole bunch of folder full of train piccies? LOL But I agree with both of ya....it's something special about trains.

i've never seen a train like that before, Kort! that is totally cool!! i never get tired of seeing pictures of trains, so i'm glad you started this, Kort! here's another one i did last spring. had no idea the train was coming. heard the whistle, ran, and tried to get my settings as quickly as a could. i didn't do a good job shooting it, and i did the post work half asleep this morning. :( don't think i cropped it right but i don't have time to mess with it anymore. oh well...here it is.

Very nice! Great detail and shadow-play. The light in the windows makes it look alive! =]

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

A detail of a garden scale train set-up. On someone's front lawn. The sign reads, "CHERRY HILL - Population 17 (more or less)" --sorry Andreas, I'll start a misty landscape thread next. ;]

I kinda liked the wire used to lock the door on this train. Normally it is what you see on bikes ;)

Snick snick?LMAO!I don't know why but that cracked me up! It does look like a giant RUSTY crab!No wonder it appealed to you,Kort.Great idea to do this.Cindy's Simone has some incredible shots and this one is already shaping up to be another good 'un.There are some really great shots here! Aw!Don't feel bad Andreas.I don't have anything to contribute here, either. But then I wouldn't have a misty sunset shot, either. ;^) And LOL at Doug wanting to prove it's NOT rural where he is.Sure it's not,Doug.I'm sure it's very very modern there, lol.Cowpie throwing is always done in modern, urban areas...LOL! ;^)

Link is to a photo I took last year called CRAZY TRAIN! @ Sheila - love the tones and that bit of hard light...adds drama (also like the lightning bolt on the side!) @ Kort...Wonder if that is a reference to Cherry Hill New Jersey??...its a 15 minute drive from home! Looks surreal! @ Christa - I like them rivots and the color....that thin red line cuts right thru the dark blue...kinda frames the image too! Geez cool x-tra train pics peeps! I got a bunch more at home!

Let's see'em when you can Joe. I remember that shot...commented on it even. :) Speaking of rust Marlene, here is one that I really like. I haven't had a chance to prep it for my gallery yet, so it has been in digital limbo...until now. It is the side of a container car that was sitting in the Sebring train station. The link is a train shot I posted several months ago. Okay, I'll try hold off from posting any more until some other people have contributed. :)

Little small gauge

Wow Doug, those are all lovely shots! The new is nice, but I like the never used and heritage more - for their character. :) That small guage is a cute engine if I ever saw one. Here is an "action" shot of some passing oil cars. No filters used, the effect is from panning right to follow the motion of the train. I kinda like how just the center stayed in focus.

pink train? COOL!! Love the picture, Kort!!!!!! thanks for showing!!!! :)

TwoPynts ( ) posted Wed, 11 January 2006 at 8:02 AM

I think it was red at one time, but we all know that red pigment is one of the least stable when exposed for long periods to the sun. But a pink train would be cool, all pimped out! ;]
