Subject: Export objects from lightwave for use in v5i

Has anyone had this effect with an .obj object (exported from LW 8.3) when importing and viewing it as a wireframe in V5i (with the 5.09 beta patch installed) - i.e the wireframe is all over the place (though it renders fine, as you can see in the preview image, its just a mongrel to deal with when positioning things relative to it). I've had this happen with a fair few obj's exported from Lightwave, but it doesn't do it with .lwo files.

In the official 5.08 patch, that same object with the same import settings looks like this above, so I don't *think* its something I'm botching up in the export/import side of it (but you never know).

This is how the wireframe looks in bryce, LW, uvmapper, ...

Also, does Vue5infinite tend to hang when you try and import too big a .lwo file into it (like over 60000 polys or thereabouts)??

Thanks for any ideas/help.

edit - I've gone back and uninstalled/reinstalled V5i to get from the 5.09 to the 5.08 after reading how the rollback can be problematic.

You might want to put in a tech support ticket over at e-on and include the images you posted above so they can see what the issue in 5.09 is and get it addressed.

Yeah, probably will do another ticket. I posted here wondering if anyone else had seen this - or whether it was me doing something strange that someone else may have done and sorted out themselves (surely I thought others would have imported from LW to Vue via the .obj format). Thanks anyway :)
