Get your batteries checked as these have been recalled by Nikon.
They give you a new one if your numbers match.

I was just in the repair depot....again...auto focus doesnt work.
So I demanded a new one.
They will discuss it and attempt to fix, but I told them I was not satisfied with that.
They said they probably would replace it, but still want to look at it.
In the meantime they gave me a D100 to use while it is there.
So the customer satisfaction is back.

I sent my battery off in the pre-paid envelope on tuesday, they should send me a new one within 5-10 days. Until then I am out of action but I have ordered another to use as a spare. this link is a head start for the european users http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nikoneurope_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_sid=82ZmzYYh one note: I originally registered my camera after I bought it with the nikon-europe site but you may have to re-register with the european support centre before you can register your battery for replacement. I bet that link doesn't work, you'll have to copy and paste :) David

I got with Nikon a few weeks ago on the recalled battery thing. They got the new one to me within 5 days or maybe 6 of the time I put the old one in the post. I had also ordered a replacement, thinking recalls normally take like 6 to 8 weeks! Nikon was very fast. I call that fine customer service on the battery. I have a spare anyway but still...now I have 3 cells, one fresh from Nikon and not charged yet. Someday I will take enough pics to possibly use it!

Hi Doug! Nikon sent me an E mail on this a few weeks after I registered both my D70 and E8700 on the site, one of my batteries is on the list and the other isn't, I have the mailing label but just haven't sent it off yet. Thanks for the reminder. Guess it will have to wait until I have shot Blue Cypress once again. One of these days... sigh Brenda :)
