Subject: Looking for a Poser Utility

cedarwolf ( ) posted Sun, 08 January 2006 at 1:11 PM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 8:45 AM

Alas, I have to delete at least two gigabytes of stuff from my beloved laptop before it will even acknowledge the need for a defrag. Most of these are Poser files. Is there a program/utility out there that you can designate, say, a prop and have it find all the connected files, let you select which ones to toss out, and delete those from your hard drive? It would help greatly if it were free and came with "idiot friendly" instructions. Thanks for everyone's help! Tony O

If you want to selectively delete get 3DOExplore from senosoft.com Click on the thumbnail of the prop or figure, wait for it to build the tree then you can see what is located where and delete what you want. Remember, I used the term..selecively, you will have to repeat for each item. Pun or Puninstall, can't remember the corret name is another. search the free area for that one.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Does anyone know if Poser Library Uninstaller puts stuff in your Recycle Bin when you uninstall it? I"m wondering if it does that so I can rezip it and save it after I uninstall something.

A few other tricks, assuming you run Windows XP on that laptop: - run "del *.tmp /s /q" from the command line. It'll remove tons and tons of temporary files that tend to get strewn about your disk. If you have more than one partition, run it from the root folder of each partition. - disable the Recycle Bin. - clear your temporary internet files cache. - disable System Restore. It'll free up a lot of disk space. Works only in WinXP. Last resort, if you do this you cannot return your system to a previous state, even when you reenable System Restore afterwards!

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Ok, aside from caves full of sleeping bears, where would I find Hibernate?
