Hello, Does any here know if there's a monster or demon figure for Poser w/ four arms?

pakled ( ) posted Sun, 15 January 2006 at 9:47 PM

hmm..there's the Darcassian..don't know the site off the top of me head, but there's plenty of links for his stuff at 3d commune, and Rendervisions, I b'lieve..not sure about the monster potential, but the number of arms is right..;)
There was (a long time ago) a 4-armed (maybe even more) add-on for Posette, used to be in Freebies, but it's been years. Hope this is a good start..stay tuned for more coherent and helpful answers..

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Put two additional arms to a nice demon (Nybras, for example)

Casette, I like the idea of using Nybras. But is there a tut on how to add 2 extra arms?

Load two (e.g. Poser 4 men (= Dork)) to stage. Call them A and B. Parent B to A's hip. Set all translates and rotates of B's hip and BODY to 0. In the Hierarchy Window, give B an extra IK-chain Abdomen-Chest; set it to IK-on. IK-parent B's chest to A's chest. Set all translates and rotates of B's chest to 0. Hide B's hip, abdomen, chest, thighs, shins, feet, toes, head, eyes, and genitals: this is best done in the Hierarchy editor, by clicking the little eye symbols so they disappear. Save the result.

Go into the resulting CR2 file with a text editor. Find the yTran channels of each of A's and B's collars; set each to "hidden 0", so they show in Poser.

If you are making Hindu religious art, leave it like that. Else, yTran the collars to get A's shoulder joints away from B's shoulder joints to make the result anatomically possible.

Rename the character A as (say) "Jim", and B as "Jims_extra_arms".

OH NO WAY!!! ya hadda post this? Have you any idea how much I was multi-tasking already?? This is too cool, everything stops long enough for me to run thru this! Hmmm. One idea I get already, the hide/show children python script from I believe Mason would really help speed this up. Progress pics immenent!

OK im stuck, "In the Hierarchy Window, give B an extra IK-chain Abdomen-Chest; set it to IK-on. Ive selected figure B>Body, opened Window Hierarchy Editor. I note that since parenting B body to A hip that fig B and all children are now children of A's hip. Problem is when I highlight the A body, or A chest or A abdomen in the Editor, all of the three buttons on bottom EXCEPT for Create IK chain enables :/ im in Poser ProPack SR3. Should Use IK chains be enable for either of figures A & B at this point? Its on both thier legs by default. thanks, Logan

Switch IK off for A's legs and B's legs. Poser's auto-IK-on habit for legs is a pest.

Give B an extra IK-chain Abdomen-Chest. Its goal should be B's chest.

Im sorry I typo'ed. I was on B>Body when I opened Editor. Lemme disable IKs :) do I want to have B>Body or B>Chest selected before I open the editor please?

logansfury ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 6:09 PM

"IK-parent B's chest to A's chest" Ive never done any IK parenting before, is this different from standard parenting, or do you mean to select B>Chest and Properties and set its parent to A's Chest?

logansfury ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 6:19 PM

OK I think ive puzzled it out....I hope ive puzzled it out. I selected B>Body, opened Editor, went down below body parts, found two ik-chains sets, one indented, which I figured was for the parented fig B. I highlighted the top IK Chains and this enabled only the create IK chain button. I clicked it, typed in abdomen-chest for its name and it just appeared. I wasnt sure how to enable it, so I clicked that box to the right of it and the whole editor did some super fast scroll thing. I think I messed up there? Then I thought a bit, went to B chest in the Editor, left click and dragged dropped to that abdomen-chest and it now appears below the chain name and says (Goal). I exited the editor and parented B>Chest to A>Chest in the standard way, dont know if ive missed an IK parent step, but adjusting the chest of A now affects B fine. Im gonna continue, please tell me if ive missed something

Found missing step sorta, after creating the chain, It added itself to the IK list under Figures menu. Problem is I cant enable it. Can anyone tell me how?

well here is what I came up with although he tends to come apart when two extremely diff poses are applied to his two figures. A bit of dialing restores that and it looks like only a touch of postwork is necessary to fix a bad color spot under the right top chest muscle.

Think a had a crosstalk issue with the conforming figure loincloth on the middle dude.

I put one into the freestuff section. Search for Piu-pilaaw. (I think he was my first self-made Poser character.)

To IK-parent part P to part Q:-

  • P must be the goal of an IK-chain. Set that IK-chain to ON.
  • Select P.
  • In the Poser run's menu, mouse Object, then Change parent. In the resulting small hierarchy table, select Q.

To make the new IK-chain:-

  • Mouse Window, Hierarchy editor.
  • Expand the hierarchy table to maximum size. In it, find the man.
  • Click the little - signs opposite his collars and head and thighs, and also the - sign opposite the beginning of each IK-chain, to turn them into + signs, to get the rhubarb out of the way.
  • Click on "IK Chains". Click on "Create IK Chain". In the resulting small box, type the name "CHEST".
  • Click the little + sign opposite the new IK-chain "CHEST".
  • Drag his abdomen into the new IK chain's little chain symbol.
  • Drag his chest into the new IK-chain's little chain symbol. -- IN THAT ORDER.
  • Click the + at the top right corner of the Hierarchy Window, to get rid of the Hierarchy Window.
