Earlier today the site was running fine, then when I came back this afternoon, first I got a mysql too many connections error, and now that I finally can get in, there's no pics. All I get is an empty box with a little white square at the upper left corner that has a red x in it. If anyone knows how to fix this problem I'd appreciate a heads up. P.S. I've surfed to other sites and its only happening here at this site.

I think that they're switching over to Bondware 3.0 now- but I could be wrong.

Yes, BDC this is all due to the Marketplace conversion. We are still having to tweak some stuff to get the graphics and all to appear so just please bare with us:) Thanks Stacey

Okay Jeff:) I'm busy today, leave me alone, LOL. Are we going to be able to change the background color in pref. for the MP ? No, sorry you won't be able to change the colors. The forums will get faster once all the data is converted. Right now the load is heavy heavy from all the data trying to get across. Stacey

blaufeld ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 4:38 PM

For now, I'm strongly disappointed and dissatisfied with the new marketplace, both as a client and as a merchant. I hope this will be only a temporary layout, because I think that in its present form it is badly conceiveid and plain UGLY. :(

Puntomaus ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 4:42 PM

Eeewww ... actually you can keep your new marketplace and hand me back the old one. Don't like it a bit and have really no idea what was wrong with the way it was before. I don't like that I don't have the merchant's names on the wishlist anymore and that the private and public wishlist is not seperated anymore. Is it intended to leave it like this or will the merchants names, prices and if the products in the wishlists are on sale be back again?

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 4:50 PM · edited Mon, 16 January 2006 at 4:51 PM

Just a question...there was a suggestion to improve identifying updated products (such as giving a date for updates). Are there further changes going to be made to the Marketplace? Or is this it? Because all the updated product information has disappeared, which seems to be less of an improvement than more than one.

Reserving judgment overall, however. If it works better, that's really all I care about.

I'm also interested in reading what the final MP changes will be. I believe I read that reviews will be returning as final tweeks are made. But overall, the change has made the shopping experience harder, not easier. IMO, overall ease of use equals sales. That said, the new MP is not nearly as user friendly and it makes me wonder just how this will affect sales.

I also don't like having to dig for my wishlist, nor the new wishlist layout. It's much harder to read and discern what you're looking at. I do like being able to see more products at a glance on each page, but that's about it.

Having to search for vendor, price, wishlist, other vendor product thumbs which used to appear on the left of the current vendor's product made perusing the MP much easier and convenient.

The new layout is extremely frustrating. I've never voiced a complaint here but this time, I felt a need. I hope this new MP layout isn't the final rendition and that at least some of our concerns will be considered and implemented. Not to mention a better search function for the buyer to better find what they are looking for - a constant problem in the R'osity's MP that really needs to be addressed.

Hi dialyn, Select Item List from your Account page and you will see an "Updated" column that lists the date a product was updated. We will be refining the system over the next few weeks. Thanks for all the fantastic suggestions. Clint

I don't know. For the most part I like it. Most of the search options are still there. They're just setup a little differently. It seems to load much faster for me. I like that the wishlist is alphabetized but it does bother me that the merchant is no longer listed on the wishlist page. Sometimes I may just be looking to buy textures so liked to be able to search my wishlist for someone like Morris, MaskEdit, Rhiannon, or TamelaJ. Or I may just be thinking about a prop I know by Danie & Marforno or a creepy character by GothWeaver. A lot of the artists here I know their work and may be looking for something specifically by them in my wishlist. I dislike not having that option anymore. Most of the other changes are fine with me though and I really appreciate the faster load time on pages.

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 5:17 PM · edited Mon, 16 January 2006 at 5:20 PM

I actually did select Item List from my account but perhaps I did it before that enhancement was implemented. It's hard to know that an item has been updated if the merchant doesn't notify you (and they don't always) or if you accidently delete stray notifications (not that I would ever do that). :/ I'll look forward to the refinements.

The wishlist looks fine to me (I was suprised to see mine didn't get erased even though the one product I had in the shopping cart did--yes, I know, I was warned.)

I'm happy to wait to see how the site evolves.

Thanks!

Under the heading of you can't please everyone, I have yet to see a change on Renderosity where people didn't complain and want things back the way they were. It's just the nature of things. Some people (mostly silent) will be okay with the changes and some people (many vocal) will not. I say give it a chance and then make useful suggestions rather than a blanket "I hate it."

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 5:24 PM

One more thing about the sishlist: PLEASE put the prices back! If I've got a gift certificate (yes, that happens L) I used to go to my wishlist to see if I had anything there that fit the gift. I can't do that anymore. I can't remember the prices on the individual items. And as I suppose the wishlist looks the same in case you wanted to BUY a gift for someone.. you can't find something that fits the amount you were planning to spend either :o( And that's just ONE of the things I hate about the new MarketPlace. But I've voiced the other ones at several places now and I don't want to start sounding like a broken record...

Actually after reading the other thread there are things I hadn't noticed missing like the price and sale notifications on the wishlist page. Those are definitely handy. Also the Reviews & Star Ratings are gone from product pages. Not crazy about that. As opposed to DAZ and RDNA where the company supports products by all their merchants. Here there's always been a balances and checks by the user and customer. I feel that's important unless Renderosity plans on providing better testing and technical support directly.

MarianneR ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 5:34 PM

I also prefer the old wishlist, with the merchant's name, price and telling me if the product is on sale. How long will a product will stay on sale? It's not in the product listing and not in the product page. I can't find it at least. Also it seems that the store doesn't display the products on sale properly. If I click Marketplace in the left column and then "On sale" I get 10 pages of products and most of them seem to be Poser stuff, but if I click on "Poser" first and then "On sale" I only get 3 pages.

netvampire ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 5:47 PM

is it just me but has the purchase history changed to alphabetical, were as before it was last item purchased always on top running down to other purchases, i used to rely on that list for product credits on images, as was easy to find the list of stuff used, rather than hunt though my runtime...now i have no idea what the last item was i bought...........hope this will change.......

ariannah ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 5:51 PM

Just for clarification and since I can't edit my reply above, my main goal was not to complain, but offer feedback. I'm not woosing out, just hoping that by clarification our replies and suggestions will be given consideration. It's simple. If a merchant site seeks to be successful, then providing what generates ease of use will bring about more sales.

As for the wishlist some of you like better - maybe I'm just getting old cuz my aging eyes find the smaller scaled version a lot harder to read, lol.

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 5:51 PM

The new version looks very much, to me, like Runtime DNA's marketplace (yes, I know why that is). The discovery that amused me the most: my first purchase was apparently made on Date: 0000-00-00 I guess I've been here so long that they don't have a backward count that goes that far back. :(

ariannah ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 6:10 PM

Sorry - just noticed something and wondered if the "updates" option for items already purchased will be returning? Not all vendors send email to let you know of updates to previously purchased products so this is a very useful option. Unless I'm a mooseface and can't find where this option is now?

dlk30341 ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 6:10 PM

I want prices back on the wish list...otherwise I'm fine with the changes. I used the prices to budget. No point in having a wish list otherwise.

kamion ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 6:11 PM · edited Mon, 16 January 2006 at 6:12 PM

I cannot see the fact that in the account list now only order number and no long product describtion include vendor are visable as an improvement..

RENDO's ssytem was always very good in finding back item... handy when your own runtime i overcrowed with item bought at Rendo.

that service is gone I notice. same for wishlist not nice.

Digitell ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 7:39 PM

I just came from the marketplace and when you are on your account page, all you have to do is click on "Item List" and you will get a page with all the information just like before, only it is now in alphabetical order. I dont see anything wrong with it at all other than the wishlist as dlk30341 pointed out..no prices.

cliff-dweller ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 8:35 PM

Well, I've given my few suggestions for improvements on the new layout over in the MarketPlace Customer Support thread...I hope the PTB's are reading that thread!

What puzzles me the most about the new layout is how much the store looks like RDNA now! I know, I know, they use Bondware software there, but Syyd at RDNA always told me that they would get Bondware's (then) current version of the software once Renderosity did their upgrade.

But now Renderosity looks more like RDNA rather than the other way around...very weird and a bit unsettling, too!

Just thought I'd pipe in and say that I dislike the new market place too. For one thing, it's way too wide. I have to scroll right and left to see the full page. I can't widen my browser view as I'm vision impaired. I also couldn't find the "Put in Shopping cart," button. I saw a wishlist button though. Yes, maybe the internal programming is improved and now up to date, but I like the old design and layout much better. :-) Bobette Bryan

I expressed my opinion about the change in the above link... along with 82 other voices all saying things like: Turn it back! I hate it! I won't buy here anyone! Change it back! It wasn't broken, why did you change it? No one complained about it before! It was great the way it was! It's ugly! It looks unprofessional! It looks like RDNA's interface which I don't like! Is this Renderosity or Rend DNA? I urge the Admins to take a look at that thread, and to view the other forums too. It should be easy to pick out the threads complaining about the changes. I for one like the MP the way it was, and I listed my reasons in that thread I linked to above.

There seems to be no link to jump to my 'artist's' page or 'My Gallery' from either the front page or the marketplace. The site is running very slow and just doesn't feel like home any more :(
Why aren't there product reviews? I always left a review when buying a product, guess I wasted my time.
I know everything has to change sometime but to be honest I'm not at all keen on this one - I guess I'll just have to get used to it though.
Maybe it'll be better when it's finished - I live in hope :)

Entered MP, then My Shopping Cart. Empty! Renderosity (R*) have some trick to bring products selected back or is it gone with the old MP? Luckily I only had three products, yet if R* had given us users some notice, I would have written them down. Hope the newsletter gave notice. Now I'll have to receive that too. Also in the Front page News, no mention of a site change. I've designed web sites and one ALWAYS lists a major change like this in the news section giving some details!

another item of major nuissance and great irritation with the new set up: when in the old system you did put into the cart an item you already had bought before or was on the wishlist, you got a message that the order could not be prosessed and the advice to look in account or wishlist. A nice service to prevent double purchases also wiped away. I did put an item I bought last week in the cart and it was accepted as if nothing had happened before. one more reason to demand: GET BACK THE OLD SETUP.

starmage ( ) posted Tue, 17 January 2006 at 9:13 AM

People don't like change for a variety of reasons dialyn. Change can be good but it doesn't necessarily mean that what has been changed is better. On a Human Computer Interface Design Analysis the Marketplace would do very poorly. Particularly in consistency but also rather poor in Visibility (Far too cluttered). One only needs to look at the top part to understand what I mean. Even in just that part there are 3 navigational types (Text links, Graphical Buttons, List boxes). No Labelling (What page am I on??? Is it What's New? What's Hot?..). Why is the What's New etc line tabled with a background colour and the line above it is just a line of text? Did anyone at BGondware consult or do beta testing with users on this design? It doesn't look like it to me. Rule number 1 of Human Computer Interface Design which I learnt last year : You(The designer) are not your user.

Only your mind limits yourImagination. Let it free.

As a merchant here I like the new accounting set up. Much nicer, I haven't checked anything through the MP yet but there is a NOggin animal that I have my eye on, so will check out today. I don't like the white background but do like how I have my pages set up when viewing the gallery. Please if at all possible code this in so it can carry over to each page. I know it can be done because I have a forum and gallery where all pages are as the user wants from the styles they are allowed to choose. :) I also would like to see the prices and vendor added back to wish list. :)

If I am wrong provide me a link to assists others that will follow. 1. The main Index page has absolutely nothing regarding this change over with the exception of a banner that I presume is prompted by a 'next visit'. No details on the changes under the NEWS section. I scoured the page twice now. 2. I went through the Community forum back to Jan. 5th. Saw a few posts of no help, but nothing outlining detailed changes. Show me the link. Other forums usually have official posts from internal, placed at the top of the page. perhaps this was discussed a month ago. 3. The Calendar for Jan 16th shows nothing about this. I could see if it was minor which sites do on a daily basis. If it was my job even if volunteering, I'd put a link there going back to an outline of what changes were made and one under News.
