my old epson printer stylus photo 820 had die on me so i looking at a espson stylus photo 800 or the 1280. Borh is $399. I just went to get 14 photos done and it cost me $90 lol I did look at printers around town that was at best buy and office depot but all I saw was junk. or ones that have a small computor build into it. and i was thinking of looking into the Kodal pro 1400 dry sublimation printer at $419 .Have anyone use this type of printer? Which one is the best for the money???

My HP inkjet just broke. I am considering the Epson Stylus Photo R2400, Epson Stylus Photo R800, and Canon i9900 Photo Printer.

I just was going to buy an HP9850 to be able to do 13x19 prints.At a cost of over $700. Re thinking it I said I could get a lot of prints done for that,and instead found a deal on a Canon Pixma iP6000D for $159. This is the best out of 4 printers I have owned. LCD to view...card slots...and super quiet. Been printing up a storm,and love it. For large prints I can easily send them out. Now tonight I see the price at another outlet for $99 so will be going in to get a price match.

I personally would look at: cost per print, more than the capital cost of the printer. If you need or want a printer you may consider it a price worth paying, or you may just decide that a cheaper option is for you.

I am currently using the Canon i9950 A3 printer, superb print quality and colour rendition, black and white takes a bit of messing with to get right, but over all cant fault it. Top quality A3 print about 2 minuets, very quiet, so you wont wake your neighbors at 2am lol Its a touch on the pricy side but you get what you pay for. Price approx 360 UKP print cost using genuine Canon ink and paper is approx 3 per A3 (depending of course on the image content and colour) full set of ink approx 60 (8 inks) I dont recommend compatible inks with this printer. Best results with good quality paper. Simon

After a lot of research, I just recently bought the Epson R1800. The price was resonable for what you get and I love the 13x19 prints it can make. Detail and color are well beyond any other printer I've owned. Ink prices aren't cheap, but other than that it is a printer that I'd reccommend to any serious photographer or artist.

Or if you are feeling really lucky. Nip on over to photoshop tv before Friday, sit through the program (40 mins if you can take the presentation style) and answer the photoshop question - Voila!!! win yourself an Epson R2400. Have a pen and paper handy to note down your answer and e mail address to send the entry too ;) I could tell you the question but that would be cheating now wouldn't it - LMAO!

I ummed and ahaed between the Canon i9950 and Epson R1800 myself, and it came down to running costs and recommendation, really The studio that I use has the Canon so I had seen the quality that it puts out, Epson though probably win out on ink/print longevity. If you can afford it go for an A3 though (as long as you dont want it to be portable!) A3 is the new A4 lol

I have a Canon i9900, and I'd have to recommend it hands down. The print quality is indistinguishable from a photo, and it is very fast and very quiet (except when it barfs out the finished print -- that's a loud click) Also, it uses individual ink tanks for each color so you don't have to throw out a bunch of perfectly good ink when just one color goes dry like you do with multi-color cartridges. I'm sure the Canoni9900 is a great printer, but I read some reviews by several people stating that after about 6 months, there started to be some print quality issues. Ones that couldn't be fixed by cleaning the nozzles. Otherwise I might have gone that way because the Canon IS a little cheaper. BTW, the Epson has the indidual cartridges too. Another consideration is that the Canon can only print on a couple of kinds of paper. The Epson can handle a wide range of papers, even watercolor!

I think that all inkjets will suffer from nozzle problems if they arent used enough and left sitting unused for weeks. Quality wise there isnt much to pick between Epson or Canon, Epson used to have nozzle issues but they seem to have got that sorted out now with their later printers. The Epson inks are pigment based and as such are said to outlast even wet chemical process prints. I make custom profiles for different papers, not had any problems printing on art papers. Although using default settings can really over ink art papers.

I hate HP, mostly because their printing software tend to try to take over the operating system and everything else just to get the darn driver installed, but I will still get myself a HP Designjet 70 when I'm buying the harware for the store/studio. It'll print A2, A3, A4, B3, B4 and Roll. I have no clue how much it is in the US, but over here in the UK it's around 700.

Thanks for all the input. I hopeing to buy one soon like in a week or so. I spended about $90 on 14 prints. If I print them my self I can print a lot more than 14 prints. I guess like 70 t0 80 prints.
They change me $6.50 a print. The size was on 12x12 paper. They got me that time.

I have a confession to make...just this morning the power of Epson r2400 evercommeth The Cool One..or St. Cool, THC, or coolj001. Whavever...even Jeff if you please...but...SALUTE! I ordered it via Internet technology from a secret website(amazon)..can you believe they even charged me tax?!...after I put it in my shopping basket and gave up my card info? Whatever...Muahaaaa! :-)..(now soon i will be rich in print, although perhaps a bit short on cash!) f-it...what good is cash by itself? Word of advice from me..the new, hopefully just temporary THC of the Mothership...Get this Printer if you want to be cool like dragonfly2000, and Me. :-)

I going to check to see if I can get the Espsonr2400 here in town. I talk to someone and they say I can go to BestBuy and they can get it for me. The reason for this is I can bring it back to the store if it breaks down for any reason. I had that happen one time I brought a PRINTER AND it broke before 30 days was past. I just bring the printer back and they give me a new one. Now I know they have to order it but I check the prices and it the same on line or in the store. I will look at Ebay too here a link and if you note a little square that say seclated page you got 13 pages to see which is the best printer. I just put it on the last page

I just checked at Bestbuy and they do not have it so i gor to go on line to get the Espson r 2400. but I might have to put it on the backburner for now . My Icebox may be going out. just spented $140 on some new gasits for it will get them in thusday then I have to see if that will work.
