So you think youve seen "scale" in poser models? well GUESS AGAIN JACK!!!!

and um, Jill? Yanno you - the one reading this with all the curves and things. You know who you are.

anyhow.

Ok you ready for this? Naw you cant possibly be ready for this. No one could be ready for this. Ive been rendering with the set fer days and IM not ready for this.....

Here comes first pic. This is M3, 100% standard scale note the great texture detail of castle even under default lighting for a test render: EDIT: yep pics forthcoming, im formatting the text between the images so it all flows together ;)

Still standard M3, untouched scale. Castle texture remains great! all this lacks is some colorful flags, soldiers on the battlements, but thats for later, for now lets go back further.....

Not bad eh? There is room for all you would want to create and more, room for an entire walled small town with all the other vendor's cottage, and townshome sets!! Which now brings me to the big question: getting a smaller base for this for less extensive renders! Ive examined the Moat prop with the grouping tool. Its a staggeringly large prop, and its polygon facets are equally large. I was hoping for a prop with a single text map that I could scale down in adobe and apply to a smaller prop, but no dice, this is a series of huge material zones and groups with tiled textures. I wanted to come up with some kind of castle base set. Im thinking a flat topped primitive rectangle or square that can somehow have the kind of "noise" morphs on the side surfaces that create the mounds and irregularities of the RDNA IC3 ground plane. Any Ideas or suggestions? Logan

Hello Richard, The set is incredible :) Thanks for the compliment, if youre interesting in seeig more, Ive used it to simulate indoor/underground with proper lighting and cam placement. link above shows my edit of the moat cobbles applied to the poser default ground plane, and thats one of the Keeps positioned to give the illusion of a square room in a dungeon setting.

What I wanna hear are reports on the memory usage of such a huge prop in Poser 6. What with all the known, and unknown memory issues we've run into, how does it render when you start adding props and decorateions etxcetera....

Mizreal all these shots are Poser 4 ProPack SR3. The current .pz3 size is 69.5MB and thats without me having cut any textures down to size yet

This is out of the box except for M3 and his armor, axe and the textures applied to them. Now I wanna figure out how to do some custom props, like a smaller moat prop, with a smaller castle foundation, smaller moat with 4, 2 and 1 roads only for access, river as opposed to completely surrounding moat, etc

Sounds like maybe a little mix and match with some other medieval stuff around here :) What resolution did you use in Poser? ..I normally use 800X600 coz I'm blind..lol which is fine when working with V3 stuff but have found some building products I purchased, I have to go higher to get them to fit in the work area

I do all my work on a 17" monitor at 800x600, I have my scene window in poser sized to 512x384, and do most of my renders to a new window of 800x600. Been telling myself for years I would get a 19" monitor "soon" Now my whole primary workstation in completely obsolete...

well that's a relief..I hate using 1024 X 768.. I mean yeah the work area holds more stuff, but all the menus, etc..get reeel small..lol anyhow..it's a cool castle render..think I'll check out the package :0)

It's part of what prompted my attempt at Hadrian's Wall. Do a search on "fmous" and you'll discover my mis-spelt secret. Is anybody insane enough to assemble a 73 mile long Poser model? I'll let you build your own terrain.

Yup, that's big. And the funny thing is, Poser can handle even bigger environments. About a year and a half ago I made a scene using RDNA Macrocosm/Skydome, scaled up. About 2 miles in diameter. Poser can probably handle even larger scenes. Unlike Vue or Bryce there's no built-in skydome limiting the scene size....

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

There are some default parameters for the cameras which could make distant objects vanish from a render, but that's not a hard limit.
