Has anyone done animations using vehicles? I have many vehicles, especially hanksters SS7, and I would like to do animations in poser(6) using it. Although I really enjoy physics, but for hours working on this in poser(6), I am starting to get a headache and no where. Then looking for graph charts on the net, not really helping, because I am unable to find one speed chart. I do not have MS exel (So, I can make a chart) or other on my comp. In for one when I get the money.

Now, the Saleen S7 can go 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds. Using 100 frames in poser, setting poser units to meters, because their is no mile units.

So, 60mph will be converted to 96.54m in 3 seconds.

Starting the vehicle at rest. Adding 100 frame in poser. Like to vehicle to start at 20 frames, then acceleration. Movie file:20 frames per second.

(Frames 0-20)
0 seconds car is at rest

(Frames 21-40)
1 second, car starts to accelerate (this is where I start to get confused per frame)?

(Frames -75 or 80)
3 seconds, car has reached speeds at 96.meters per hour in 3 seconds (or should we say 2.8 seconds which is at frame 75). Then the constant is easy (Frames 80-100).

I wish I had a speed chart. Looking through the web for one. But does anyone have a better way of doing all this?

Then tire rotations will come into play later..gosh.

Anyone have a WordPad speed chart? Or jpg? Prob not..I might have to draw one up. Thought I ask...

96.meters per hour? what is a speed chart? is that the power curve? (speed vs. acceleration)

Robo, go here: http://www.hybridculture.co.uk/animvehicle.htm There is a tutorial I made on animating vehicles. To calculate the speed, I have made a Vehiculator, lol, a Poser Vehicle Speed Calculator, but you do need Excel to use the calculator. If you don't have Excel, you can get a free program from OpenOffice that can read Excel format files. Ockham is also working on a Python based version of the Vehiculator that will automatically set your wheel rotations for the distance travelled, but that is still a way off.

"96.meters per hour? what is a speed chart?
is that the power curve? (speed vs. acceleration) " Looking for a Speed Chart "Curve" (Acceleration Graph), not a constant graph. Distance Vs Acceleration.

Even if the curve graph (chart) is in Mph..I can convert to meters. Per frame is what gets me. If their was a chart, will be no problem. 20 to 80 frames is not time consuming if you have the patients. Thanks Helgard, will look into this. :-)

...holy shades of Isaac Newton, Batman ;) What you want to know is position (distance, D) at a given time, T. Youll plug distance into your trans value, assuming youre accelerating in a straight line from a standing start: Frame # = 20 * T A = Acceleration = (96.54/3) = 32.18 meters per second squared T = Time D = distance = (AT/2)(T) = 16.08TT For example: At time 1.5 seconds your distance (xtrans, or whatever axis youre using) = 16.081.51.5 = 36.18 Frame # = 20*1.5 = 30

oh yes..that is the formula I so comfortable with S=D/T. Early in the morning for me. Just checking emails and responses before the day comes. Wondering if that is constant or acceleration. But later I will figure it out. Headache gone. So maybe tonight I might have one, if all doesn't go ok. Using X-Trans..just to get me started and understand inputing into animations.

"Wondering if that is constant or acceleration" Not sure what you're trying to say there ;) The acceleration is (the only) constant in this example. And, we have no need for Earth's gravitational constant or universal gravitational constant if that's what you're thinking of. When you drop the car off the Eiffel Tower you'll need to use the one and when you send it into orbit around Neptune you'll need the other ;)

Nice car. Start the wheels spinning for a few seconds before the car moves, then ramp down to match the forward motion. =)
