hi all first thing im not a bryce user but i have some bryce models that i would love to make lightwave ones ( to lazy to recrete them ) so i was wondering dose bryce export to .lwo

Hi Hybrid...as far as I know, It doesn't. Bryce only exports in three(supose to be four) file types: .RF .DEM and .PGM (the fourth is supposed to be .OBJ) And the only model type you can export are Terrains.

There is an update on Corel's site which does add export to other formats. I use Truespace and that is one it added. 3D Studio I believe is another format it will handle. (not at my machine at the moment, will check back). Nice thing is, I believe Lightwave will import 3DS, COB and OBJ as well. So between these, you should be able to find a common format. If you want the material selection to be "retained", try 3DS. It will export BMP files along with the object which can then be re-applied. (is it bmp or jpg.. damn, have to check that as well. LOL). And there were some steps on how to export some things other then terrains.. check the archive for this forum.. it's a common question.

Ok, this is the export list for terrains (still trying to find the info on other objects.. but that's a pain).. after the patch. Note: Some people have problems with the 'Corel' 4.x patch, go to www.brycetech.com for the MetaCreations 4.x patch. (if you have the meta version of Bryce). Anyway, the screen-shot above is the export list. :) As you can see, there are a large number of options, so you should be able to find something that will port over. And yes, on terrains, the textures, bumps and such will come out as BMP files if you do 3ds, cob, etc. (depending on the format, you can get a number of files, just used layered textures on the other end to recapture the look. Bryce does GREAT at a distance. In TS, when I pull the textures in and place a camera near ground level, it's very pixilated. Nasty and ugly. Some Photoshop love will cure this problem :) Not to mention you can change the format to JPG or TIFF for file size issues.)
