Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
You need to have the file in .jpg format. Now I'm not really sure what you are planning on doing, but if you want to put it in as a background, you can do it in 1 of 2 ways: 1. Make the pose window the same size as the image you want to import. Then go to File, Import, Background and pick your image. That will give you a background image in the scene, but it's not "interactive", meaning it won't accept lights and shadows and is stationary. 2. Use a Poser primative (flat square). Open that in Poser, go to the material room, create a new node (2D Image), and then using that node, browse to your .jpg image and apply it as a texture to that flat square. Then connect that node to the very top spot. When you do it this way you can move the square around and make it larger or smaller. It's also interactive and can acccept light and shadows. I don't know how you would apply a flat .jpg image to a round ball though. You can try doing it the same as in step #2, only using the round ball instead of the flat square. I don't know how the texture would look though. When you are done doing what you want, render and then save it as a .png image. That is an image without a background when opened up in a graphic program. It's also lossless and gives a better quality image than saving it as a .tiff.

Hi Acadia! It is an embellishment! Not a Background. I actually know how those get inserted. I need to place a ball of plasma in her hand, I already mede the plasma ball>it is on a Transparent background and needs to stay that way! Other wise I can't make it fit in the womans hand. Imagine making an image of something in Photoshop or PSP, then you want to take that into P6, How can I do that? It is like a Tube, no background, and I want to keep it that way. Then use it in P6. Am I way off??? I just need to know what other files P6 will recognize and HOW to INSERT It! Cause I am just having no end of issues! LOL!!! Look at me trying to get way ahead of myself! ThanX! If it's something you made in a graphic program, you can't bring it into poser and use it like a prop. You'll have to do it in a graphic program unless you have a plasma prop that is made for poser that you can use.

Also, you can get some really nice special effect .png files here. They can only be used in a graphic program and applied during post work though. They aren't poser props. If you want spell effects that you can use in Poser, you can check the following links: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=724 http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?vendor=14279 JPeter makes some great props for spells, fire etc."It is good to see ourselves as

I"m trying to find a plasma ball object or something online for you. If I find something I'll post back. Also, you could use the hi res ball in the poser primatives, position it where you want, apply a glass texture to it to make it see through and then do a bit of post work on it to make it glowing.

I think templargfx's car materials have a glass texture. I'm still learning too :) While I've had poser for coming up 2 years in April, it's been less than a year since I actually started to do anything but play "dress up dolly". Most everyone still has some stuff to learn in Poser. It's not an easy program to get the hang of, so don't feel bad asking questions."It is good to see ourselves as

Hmmmm, maybe I misunderstand a tad, Can you briefly explain what a Mask (Transmap)is? I have worked a bit with primitives. But I tried to insert a .png into the primitive and got all black? Any thoughts where I went wrong? CM BTW>No feedback on my background colour? :(?

Here's how to make a transparency map from an image with an alpha channel, using Paint Shop Pro. I assume there are similar procedures in other packages. Open the image with the alpha channel you want to use, and leave it alone; PSP just needs to know it's there. Create a new 24 bit image with the same dimensions as the first one. Flood fill it with perfect black. In that image, create a new raster layer. Flood fill that with perfect white. While the white layer is still selected, go to the Masks menu and select Load from Alpha Channel. You should see the mask from your previously loaded image if it's the only one, if you had other images open you may have to select it from the list. Flatten the image and save as JPEG - that's your transmap. Apply that in Poser's material room, and make sure that maximum and minimum transparency settings are 100%. Your original image becomes the texture map, of course.
