I've been playing round with Vicky's dress for a picture I've got in my head and have used magnets to morph it, and UV MApper to correct the distortion seen in dress 1 in the image attached, but the dress deforms badly when ever I change the pose :( Is it just me being dense or is there something I'm doing wrong? (bearing in mind I am a blonde!) Also I'm sure I've seen a rope or chain belt around somewhere, which would just finish it off, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it, but if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be very greatful:) Alla

When a mesh is stretched it will deform the texture, haven't seen a good way around it.

wow this is a lovely dress. I have noticed that when I use the length morph on vickis dress I get the distortion as well. Jeff is right, there is no way around it. Which sucks since vicki dosent have a nice long dress. Well steve shanks did a evening gown for her which is nice, but I want more of a slinky gown for her. BTW I have a beaded hip belt that I got at travelers site awhile back. I dont know if it is still there. I think he made it? If travler dosent mind I can send it to you...if it is no longer on his site. Oh the site is morph world.

Alla please tell me that is Oleta Adams in the picture, if it is just ask and I'll make ANYTHING you want for her :o)..........Steve

Could you deform it, export the new OBJ, remap the new OBJ and then copy the old CR and edit the OBJ pointer to the new mesh?

ookami ( ) posted Sat, 24 March 2001 at 2:26 PM

Oh... and by the way... that's gorgeous!

Thanks for the input everyone:) Dress 2 and 3 in the render are after I had exported the dress object and remapped it in UV mapper, and then as Ookami suggested I edited the cr2 to point to it. There is still dome texture deformation at the sides but only slightly now. The main problem is the way the mesh deforms in different poses - I think that is because the cr2 doesn't have groups for the calves, just the hip and thighs, so when the legs are bent in a long dress the fabric just follows the angle of the thighs. (don't know if I'm making any sense here!) I only started it off with one specific render in mind but it sure would be nice to be able to use it for others :) If anyone wants to have a play with it I can send them the cr2 and the UVs so that the object can be decoded in UV Mapper. Spudgirl: I would be very greatful if you would send me that belt, I was at Morphworld a couple of days ago and didn't see it there. It sounds like just what I've been looking for:) My addy is byallassyde@ntlworld.com. Steve: Sorry but I had no idea who Oleta Adams was until I just did a search a few minutes ago! There is a strong resembelance though isn't there :) She was actually a full body morph that is built in to Catherina's Kora, although I think I narrowed her mouth and shortened her face a little. If I can get it to work right I'll put it up for download in the free stuff section as there really is a lack of stuff for Vicky. Alla
